The Jelavic chant that we got going at the Norwich game never seemed to get repeated, why did that stop?
Who is marching coast to coast and far across the sea? S-T-E-V-I-E-B-R-U-C-E
We should be doing Cheer up Stevie Bruce- great football manager and a great football team. This is the best marching song
Only ever heard this one away, a fair while back. I'm a bowlegged chicken, I’m a knocked kneed hen Haven’t had a fight since I don’t know when I walk with a wiggle and a waddle and a squawk Doin’ the City boot walk
Some of these sound ****. Don't think I missed much around that time. Sorry. All full of dee da da bollocks. The Jelavic one Sydney mentioned was ace, sadly hardly anyone at the KC knew the words.
I guarantee that most of today's rent-a-chant copied off the telly and fey songs will sound worse. They do already.
Nowt fancy, but you can't beat a good old fashioned We are Hull, We are Hull, We are Hull, We are Hull, We are Hull, We are Huuuull We are Hull, We are Hull, We are Hull, We are Hull, WE ARE HULL!!!!
Just the random shouts of YOU ULL always sounds good when theres a few dozen taking part and it goes on for a good length of time. Don't think anyone else does anything similar also?
I agree the copying off other teams is ****, but today's songs look brilliant compared to those posted in this thread.
Port Vale*, are you listening? To the song we are singing? We’re walking along Singing a song ****ting on the Port Vale as we go • I use Port Vale because the first time the song was sung by City fans was at Port Vale away. A few blokes grouped together (couldn’t see who they were as it was a packed terrace). Gradually, everyone joined in and it became part of the diet. As far as chants go, it was nothing startling and was (like most) copied from top flight clubs (Blackburn used to sing a positive variant about Shearer around this time). But, it does surprise me that this one just seemed to disappear despite being a main song at that time and for seasons after.
Na, Na, Na, Na he’s from ‘ull and he’s from ‘ull (pointing at people was recommended but optional)
A matter of opinion. What are out top 3 songs now? (by 'our' I mean that we sing not that we invented)
Nearly all our chants are copied, as are nearly every other fans’ chants. Manchester United always seem to be ahead of the game though – might be wrong. Who actually starts/writes them? The Football Chant Poet Laureate? What are our originals? Common Dolan (I liked it, but did it really count?) LR’s nana’s from Hull (but the tune is well worn) Mauled by The Tigers (see above plus probably adapted) Silverware (nicked off someone probably) I’m bias due to my age but I thought the chants were better in the 80s/90s than now; more variety, more edge and less banality than nowadays, though I’d never attempt to compare or say it’s better than the chants of say the 70s – cos I didn’t go in the 70s, so how would I know? Most chants written down look **** anyway.
Silverware as far as I know is completely original. 95% of all songs are copied from other clubs. Very few are unique and original. That's why they are respected. YouTube is how a lot of em spread. 'Scouser Tommy' is a good original song. (They've copied the first song off Royal Antwerp)
The originators complete with KC and the sunshine band add-on that CPFC etc forgot.
Hit him on the head hit him on the head hit him on the head with a baseball bat oh yeh oh yeh. Your gonna get your f**king head kicked in. Gary Alexander has borrowed me sander, to shave his Panda, who's from Uganda. Great one the last one
Haven't heard "You are my City, my super City" for years either; again another one robbed, might have originated at Everton (as they had a fanzine named after a lyric - WSAG)
