To West Ham supporters - Chim, Chimney, Chim, Chimney, Chim, Chim, Cher-oo We hate those bastards in claret and blue !
My old man Said follow Sunderland And don't dilly dally on the way Off with the coach with the boot boys in it We took Boro, in half a minute We dillied, we dallied We ****ed them in the alley, Na nana na, nana na na na And if you haven't got a scarf with Sunderland written on it You won't find your way home..
like me mother, all her family and thus me good-self + cousins. I was born in shotley and raised in NW Co. Durham. what nickname do we get then? cue abuse.....................
Born in Shotley Bridge, lived in Annfield Plain/Catchgate/Stanley all my life, so I would call myself Pitmatic.
My memory is a bit hazy but something along the lines of: Aye, me lads, you should have seen us gannin Gannin down the Roker road, you should have seen us gannin All the lads and lasses there With all the smiling faces Gannin down the Roker road To see the Sunderland aces
To the tune of the Hey Jude chorus.. Na, na, na, nananana........ nanana, na.............Sunderland..
From the banks of the River Wear, To the shores of Sicily, We're going to fight fight fight for Sunderland till we win the football league, Do away with Man United, Do away with Liverpool, We're going to fight fight fight for Sunderland till we win the football league..
It might have become that later mate. But before about 1960/1970 we'd quite happily sing the original song at Roker. I still see myself as a Geordie, born and bred in Sunderland. It was applied to the whole coalfield, either side of the Tyne until well after WW11.
