    Mumbled it now did they?

If anything it seems like you're the one changing the story as they go along.

How am I tarring the whole football world? I'm condemning anybody that thinks chants like that are acceptable. I tar everyone in the football world with that brush when every football fan in the world thinks those chants are acceptable... and because I don't think they're acceptable it's an impossibility.

So because I've had a pop at people chanting (mumbling sorry!) "Gary Speed's a *****" I'm just as bad as they are?

    Are you for real?

Been going for 28 years and I was there amongst the lowest ever attendance for a competitive City game and the lowest ever league attendance. What's your point?

Same as it is on the other post. You've got yourself all flustered by the goings on in your own head rather than in reality.

Not for me to answer on behalf of Kevin Francis, but maybe he feels that age is a factor in the postings of some people. It's a generalisation but many younger fans have grown up in a different world to the one in which older ones did.

    Different values, different perspectives.

I can't be arsed to read 8 pages of crap, but as we're on the topic of naughty songs sung by fans, didn't we used to sing "we've got no blacks* in our team" at fee ark? I'd guess some of the older posters having a barmy joined in with this in their youth, there are idiots everywhere, hull city is no different, get over it.

*actual word was that naughty one begging with n

Whereas you know what's going on in reality? If anything I'd say you're too concerned with what's going on in your own head as time after time now you've not even mentioned the point I've made numerous times.

    I made one point:

    Sickening chants are unnacceptable.

All you've done is try to poke holes in my argument because you think I'm slandering football as a whole. There's an obvious difference between what's right and wrong and the Gary Speed chants obviously fall onto the 'wrong' side of that divide. To attempt to de-value that argument by making me appear 'flustered' on an internet forum doesn't disprove my argument in the least. Firstly, because you have no idea about what mental, emotional or physical condition I'm in on my end of this conversation and secondly, because it doesn't effect the point I'm making whatsoever.

    Sickening chants are unnacceptable

I've not attempted to slander our beloved game or tar all supporters with the same brush, I've simply made a statement... Do you agree with that statement?

I don't know where it puts you- that's for you to choose.

Benjo, shut up and have a read of this thread. You're getting yourself in a fluster because you're blowing a minor incident that most have condemned out of all proportion.

In doing so, you have been offensive because your implication is that these four or five people that one person mentined represent a significant element at football.

You yourself say you've personally heard nothing similar, I've heard nothing similar and it's such a rarety that even four people saying it at a level few heard (I'll avoid shortening it to mumbling!) was felt worty of comment by one person.

As i say, get a bit of context, you'll be accusing us of condoning it next ffs. Even the Leeds fan got a sense of perspective on the situation.

I'm also starting to think this was a bad idea.

Waste of time cooking all this cous cous as well.

    Cheers fellas.

And before anyone says that makes it ok, no it doesn't, but there's no point bleating on about it on a forum which the culprits probably have no idea about, and of they do will probably be sat there well pleased with themselves and feeling some sort of satisfaction and triumph. Best thing to do is just turn on them yourselves at the time as I'd have done if I heard it. I did something unacceptable at a football match once, other supporters grilled me for it, I apologised and know to conduct myself better from doing it.

Besides it was probably that bunch of twats that turn up to every away game just to argue with stewards anyway. Was anyone at Watford away last season? Them ****s who were in the bottom corner.

You call me odd for staring, but I'll be buggered (ooh err) if I'm coming over to you until I'm a bit more certain what that is you've put the cous cous in.

You seem a little flustered

A minorty on this thread have condoned it, which is why I made my initial point.

I've never been told to shut up before on an internet forum for agreeing with the majority. If I was post #2 I wouldn't have received this sort of response, but I wasn't on not606 earlier and felt that I had every right to voice my opinion on the matter seeing as I feel strongly about it, a perspective you probably should've considered?

I still don't see where I've said the 4 or 5 idiots represent a significant number of football fans, unless you're referring the point I made about football drawing idiots like them to it? I simply made that statement because in my experience I hear much more about situations like this occurring in football than other sports... granted I'm more likely to.

Or are you more offended about the point I made about football being backwards? This was more an insult at the few who run the sport in the manner they do than those that follow it.

"and felt that I had every right to voice my opinion on the matter seeing as I feel strongly about it,"

For me this is where you lose the argument, as you start to come over like an over-earnest, self-important buffoon.

I'm not saying you are one, just saying you express yourself in a manner redolent of one.

    I lose the argument?

Again, my only argument was that the aformentioned chants are unnacceptable. How I'm still trying ot make this point so long after initially stating it absolutely beggars belief. I'm not too fussed about how I come across on here in honesty. If you can't tolerate the way I express my point on here, but you can tolerate the horrible way some people express their views on Gary Speed, race, etc. at football games then that says far more about you than it does me.
