Hi all, with the action just around the corner I thought I'd post up an offer for a comp to run throughout the festival. This won't compete with the excellent comps run by the likes of Galaxy as I wouldn't have the time to invest in calculating the returns. So this would be a bit simpler and hopefully a bit of fun. Essentially the aim would be to score the least points with scoring along the lines of the old school cross country races back in the day. One race per day, with each competitor getting 3 selections per race. Points scored on finishing position. Lowest score at the end of the week wins. Races would be:
Tuesday - Supreme Novices - the curtain raiser and we're all like kids a Xmas!
Wednesday - 4 mile amateur - got a have a marathon trip in there in honour of our recently departed Aussie correspondent. You never know it may just coax him out of retirement.
Thursday - World Hurdle - most open championship race
Friday - Grand Annual - the last race and normally tricky puzzle.

In addition entrants can nominate one golden saddle horse throughout the week (in one of the selected races). If it wins you'd get a 25 plus double the sp point deduction on your score. Full rules to follow but would ideally like about 10 entrants to run.

I always try to participate in these Chan, and I'll try in this one too.

I'll have to hope that the WiFi is ok at Chelters as I'll only have internet on me phone until Thursday

No worries Reebok. Looks like this idea fell on stony ground to be honest so I'l can it. Anyway as the only declaration you've won by WO. Congratulations.

Well I would have entered as mentioned earlier. It's very odd, the apathy for competitions this year. Usually there are quite a few entrants by now. Don't understand it. I won't bin it yet in case there is a late rush. Maybe it hasn't been considered open yet. Try starting it off and see what happens. If no interest I'll bin it, along with my fantasy bets thread.
 
Perhaps it was just a **** idea Ron! I'll bin it thanks cos there's not enough interest to run it. Sorry didn't realise you had expressed an interest elsewhere. You can be runner up.
 
I was going to have a go too Chan but was waiting to see how inundated you were. Its a good idea, just think all these boys are busy with their noses in the form book!

i think though because there is only 1 race per day you are more likely to get people thinking there is no rush to post an entry.
i will enter tomorrow if you want to go ahead with it still
 
Ah bugger, Ron can you tell Reebok he's got to give his title back then! Select your team of 3 for tomorrow's Supreme Novices Hurdle. Rules are hopefully fairly simple.
- Lowest score wins over the 4 days
- Points scored based on finishing position
- Any faller/unseat gets position of last finisher plus 15
- Any other non completer gets position of last finisher plus 10
- Each competitor gets one golden saddle selection over the four races. If that selection wins you get -25 points plus double the sp.
Hope that all makes sense.
