IS " westchinken " REALY A NOME DE PLUME FOR FELIX ?, writing and singing his praises, or who knows, his premiership managerial epitaph, I personally thought RM was getting there. observation all teams need 2 good full backs.
We're ****ed now.... We're going down and due to the tight purse strings of Mr Khan we're not going to be back in the PL any time soon... Personally as a season ticket holder who goes goes home and away I feel proper ****ed off...
Yeah, posing as someone else on a forum is pretty low, isn't it rosc? I agree about Muelensteen though. I was worried that he was the wrong appointment as manager when he replaced Jol, but sacking him when he was starting to produce a team that could deliver good performances was a mistake. I'm not as down on Magath as you though. His track record (three German league titles, one of them NOT with Bayern) shows that he has something about him as a manager. The appointment wasn't a bad one, but the timing was dreadful. Rene had started to pull something together. By replacing him we lost the momentum we were starting to gain.
As DR has pointed out for some time, the lack of spending is more at Al Fayed's door than Khan's. Al Fayed did great things for the club, but we're now paying the price for several transfer windows of penny pinching once he decided to look for someone to sell the club to.
Captain the way I see it is Jol's fault in the majority with poor transfers... In any case I think we need to put Sidwell as the captain, give him a new contract and push on!
A lot of Jol's signings were poor, but it doesn't seem that he had much money available. His cheaper signings have included some gems - Karagounis, Reither, Diarra (at first). On his budget you have to take chances. Some came off, some didn't. More blame should go to the people setting the budget. I agree about Sidwell being a good man to build around for next season.
I agree that some of the signings were poor. I think one of the biggest issues we had though were with ones we let go and did get on permanent deals. Looking back now, keeping hold of Hughes for the remainder of the season would have been advisable, his experience of playing along side hangers may have helped us put now. Not getting Manolev on a permanent was a mistake. Riether has been a great servant for us but he has been woeful in the two games I have seen recently, Southampton and cardiff. Whilst Enoh was not going to set the world on fire he could have done a job for us. Penny pinching again the issue.
I agree with you all. You can't stay in the Premier league without investing in the squad and that costs money. We've been penny pinching for quite some time and it has now come back to bite us. The writing was on the wall a year ago and all we got was loan signings. The money we got from Dembele and Dempsey just went in Mo's pocket. I don't blame Jol entirely for the situation. I've not seen anything to write good things about Magath yet. His philosophy so far has been erratic as far as I can see. I don't want yet another Manager so I'm not saying any more. Let's finish the season as best we can with the players who want to play for the Club, and are good enough for Championship football next year.
Well Shad Khan must be Royally p****d off and somebody will pay. Unfortunately it's likely to be the Club and us fans.
Cottager we are the customers and we have every reason to complaint... He has invested his money to a business and if has not done his homework it's his fault! Definitely someone will pay and expect the CEO to pay!
Youâre correct about the timing, Captain. I donât blame Felix. He came in with no Premiership experience and has tried to impose his own style, which apparently worked a couple of years ago. Given more time and ideally a pre-season start that might have been fine. However, when it happened what was required was someone who could embrace the current squad, plug the failings and above all nurture team spirit. I suspect weâd still go down under Rene, although if heâd stayed I firmly believe weâd be in a better position than we are at the moment and still âshoutingâ. And do you know what, Iâd be upset but going down under Rene I could just about live with that. Now I will be spitting bricks about how completely unnecessary this has all been.
I was initially okay with FM's appointment. In all honesty we were going nowhere with RM. He put in some youngsters and was reasonably positive but under him we had some proper bad results. We leaked goals, still do, and I think there was also a lack of direction. No one knew who was boss if you know what I mean. FM came in to the fold, taking on a difficult role, impossible even. I felt he had a plan, he sounded like he did. But, I've been baffled by team selection in the 3 games he's been in charge. I'm not buying the lack of time last week due to international duty. Here are some questions for you, if you have the answers let me know. I can't help myself thinking that we've got a right plum of a manager. Why play Woodrow over Hugo or Bent? How much resentment has that caused in the squad? Why play Riise and leave Richardson out? Why can we not keep a clean sheet? If Mitrogolue is not fit why start him? Why didn't Holtby start last weekend? Why say to the press he isnt a fighter?
I think Magath is toying with the line up because he doesn't know much about the players he hasn't worked with. Can't see how he would have been following us before his appointment and I remember him saying in a press conference that he wasn't interested in what had gone wrong before. Agree on the poor timing, irrespective of whether RM was going to keep us up or down we did have some momentum from two unlikely draws. It's unreasonable to expect any manager to come in effect much more of a change than an increased team spirit with so little games. The poor timing and Magath's disinterest in whats gone on up to this point leave us in a far from ideal position where we have not only lost momentum but also any sense of what our starting 11 is.
I'm not against FM but I would of preferred we stayed with Rene as I feel he would of been able to build a younger team and has a better CV with youngsters and the English leagues.. We might of still gone down but I would be more confident of coming back up with him in charge.. As for who is to blame it is a combination of both Khan and MAF and Jol. MAF for not spending when he was looking to sell the club and Jol for not replacing the Double D's or Murphy for that matter.. Khan for not realising what he's buying into or having any idea of what he's doing. It's the same with the jacksonville Jags when he brought them they had the worst start I'm their history and was bottom of the league...
The formation on Sat was totally wrong. Simple as that... 1. Should have been Richardson with Kaca on the left, Dejagah and Riether on the right, middle packed with Sidwell, Kvist/Kara and Hotlby/Kara and a lone striker in the name of either Mitroglou or Bent. I think this formation would have won the game and scored easily. Bent is a box striker and with the width of Kaca and Dejagah would have been able to score. 2. FM is clueless of the best team. His attitude of not looking/studying past performances is wrong as he is repeating the same mistakes such as Parker and Sidwell. Riise should only be used for emergency. Bring Briggs on when ready to give him time. 3. We can't keep a clear sheet because our defense is shambles. Hangeland despite his experience is on downwards spiral... RM would not play him especially after the Sheffield game. Our keeper has let in too many easy goals. Crucial saves but the second Cardiff goal could have been avoided as some others in the past. 4. FM just pointed out loud and clear that the current squad does not have fighters with certain exceptions in the fgures of Kara and Sidders but they are fighters from their nature. Holtby seems to be a fighter based on his goal celebrations. Kasami seems to be. Parker is but can't last for long. Kvist is... Most of the youngsters are (Kaca excluded). 5. I think if we can't get a result from Newcastle is time to bring the youngsters who will fight to get in the first team and a better financially contract if we stay up...
