Just watching Norwich v Bournemouth, and I'm afraid we're light years away from this level, we'd get absolutely murdered in this league with our current squad ( aye I know we wouldn't have our current squad) but it shows how much we need to step up in our ambition and planning if we're serious about the future. I'd love to be at this level in 2 years time.
We would need to spend that 60 million just to compete. Not one single permanent player we’ve got could hold their own in the championship, perhaps McGeady aside but he’s 35.
Ironically we haven’t won a game since that 60 million was mentioned. I predicted that it would have a negative effect and got slated for it.
Yes I agree. But who actually released that statement. The media ? The club ? Someone trying to have this effect on the team ?
However no one from the club has said anything along those lines, it's pure media speculation (unless i've missed a club anouncement or something) If the players are uspest about media speculation then they're they type of players we don't need here.
So you’re watching 2 of the best sides in the championship and act surprised that we’re light years away having spent nearly 3 seasons a division below?
Would spite all the players out of contract in the summer and not reward them a new deal, we had enough of players riding the gravy train in the premier league, now we have it in this league.
I think the owner and manager recognise that, which is why the £60 Million figure was discussed (allegedly). Personally, the only ones I would keep if we were promoted would be 09 and Hume. I would give Xhemajli the chance to prove himself too, and probably Willis. Sanderson isn't ours, but I'd like him to be. The thing is the Hull and Peterborough sides will get mullered in the Championship next season, unless they invest heavily.
I cant see much reason to think a mention in the media of £60m would have any impact. A lot of them are playing for contracts anyway so they know they have 2 options, play to win new one here or play to win good one elsewhere. Nowt motivates people like the prospect of being able to earn as much money as possible, which is what they are trying to do. I would also be surprised if they dont all have a promotion bonus on offer. There are also players like Jones whose form has fallen off a cliff who might have seen the headline and thought great they can sign me. To me it is just as likely to be coincidence. One or two players have had a dip in form, couple of injuries meaning rusty players coming back in, playing good sides, all might have an impact too...
