Like I said times have changed. ****ing loads of plastic geordies up here now. I'll say Chester le street is easy 70/30 in Newcastle favour. Durham is split but it shouldn't be. Places like peterlee was a strong Sunderland hold but not now.
Always plenty in the paper on a Monday in the 1970s from Peterlee as well. Went to a few games at Roker Park in the early 1970s, 11,000 there for one of them. 3 or 4 years later they brought more than that down to Hull. I remember are one game they were asking people where they came from. Apparently something like 60% of the crowd were from outside the Sunderland city boundary (or town as it was then). The Black Cat Club at the stadium was pretty good. Until Villa torched it anyway.
I'm from Hull mate. Just out of interest Bing maps tells me that the distance from South Shields to Newcastle (centre point presumably) is 17.6 km whereas to Sunderland it is 18.1 km, not that good at maths but that appears closer to me. And she is quite aware, and proud, of the tag sand dancers

Wednesday were £40+. Leeds are about £36. Wolves and Ipswich weren't cheap. Some on here will have gone to virtually every away game in the Championship so could tell you more accurately.
Interesting experience going away to somewhere like Sunderland when there was only one coach of you and the official supporters club. Wasn't for the fainthearted.
As a result of the Premier League £30 price cap, there's several games in the Championship that are more expensive and overall there's almost no difference.
Forgot about that price cap. Quite a few Championship games will be dearer, especially for category A games.
If it is mostly the same then thats fine with me. Looking forward to it. 10 years in the premier league and fighting to stay up all the time is ****ing hard work.
It should be cheaper in the Premier League considering the huge TV money the club's receive. They could all charge a tenner and it would hardly - in relative terms - make any difference to their income.
Some games are cheaper than the likes of Chelsea etc. But in the Championship your games will be Category A. That means £42 at Wednesday (their season passes are good value but onnthe day prices are ludicrous for A and B games which is why their crowds haven't gone up the way you might have expected). Leeds is £37 as away fans are placed in their most expensive stand. You certainly get anomalies. Because Arsenal considered us a low category game it was £27 (not long after it was £62 for Man City fans) so it was less to see a game at the Emirates than many Championship grounds.
Problem there is you would have a problem telling fans that after relegation prices were going up so it would be dearer to watch your team play Barnsley, Wigan and Blackburn than it was to see them play Man Utd, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal etc...
For some clubs is a massive part of their income, particularly Arsenal, who get £100m of their £350m revenue from matchday income.
I'd go to watch my team*, I don't care who they play against. Could be Torkey or Tottenham, makes no difference to me. *If I wasn't protesting, obvs.
