Seems you missed the point .. there is no pressure of expectation at Fulham .. if they go down it's not seen as failure, just a smaller club battling away .. there's no pressure to come back up right away, no clubs looking at the fixture list to when they will be going to Craven Cottage .. the likes of Burnley, Fulham, Norwich, Bournemouth, Blunts etc don't have the weight of expectation Leeds have to deal with Fulham are having a good season because they have a manager who's got them organised, and they can play without fear of relegation because they're expected to be relegated .. that's a massive difference .. Leeds won't have the luxury of a few yoyo seasons in which to rebuild, and believe me when I say that promotion will only happen if Leeds gat an elite manager in .. problem is, no elite manager will risk their dropping down into the Championship You can't compare these clubs where expectation levels are low to Leeds United .. let me add that Everton will find it extremely hard in the Championship if they go down, and that club, top to bottom, isn't equipped for what will be coming at them .. they will also be a big scalp, and being that prize becomes an almost impossible cross to bear
Possibly but maybe expectations are more realistic among those clubs. We haven’t been a top club in two decades except in our own fans eyes. Up to players and board to earn that as the fans as always do their fair share
Isn’t it simply a case of the Leeds United shirt being much heavier than the shirt of other clubs? At least that was the argument before Bielsa came along. Certain quality players thrive at clubs where promotion would be considered a bonus. Whereas those same quality players crumble under the weight of expectation at Leeds where anything less than promotion is considered failure. Getting players in with strength of character is just as important as how good they are on the pitch. It’s why in the lower leagues there are players who are more skilful than those in the PL but don’t have the mental strength to make the most of their talent. Probably explains why the likes of Roberts and Poveda will never be PL players.
Much of what Billie says is true. Take the two teams with the worst goals conceded record in the PL against Liverpool at home. One get tanked 1-6 whilst the other somehow manages a 1-0 victory and there is just no way that Liverpool approached those 2 games the same.
.....you are making out we're savages and TBF in the dim and distant past we've had our share of a rep for shall we say larking about .... I'd say today's unhappy attendees are tame by comparison and as far as bankrolling the club to be challenging at the top or they'll get hell, well let's hope the punters get a chance to see if they're going to kick ass at the owners... for me they as safe as houses on that score
No one wants to be relegated, some like me, can’t see how we get out of this, the players have blown the chance we had. So some looking for positives for when it happens.
Jammy makes a very valid point about Liverpool playing against Leeds and Bournemouth recently. Salah missed a pen against Bournemouth in a game where he should have already been substituted as he was so bad. Then he turns up at Elland Road, goes into overdrive and plays one of his best games of the season. We all remember what it was like in the Championship, rubbish teams losing 10 in a row and then coming to Elland Road and playing like Barcelona. The only reason we got out of there was Bielsa and I just don't see us getting another manager like that if/when we get relegated.
Just need the players with the correct mental attributes. Tyler Adams is the top of that list and any DOF worth his money should not be signing the bottlers that skanker orta dug up.
Skanker orta should be the last DOF the club ever employs, absolute made up job that isn't needed any manager worth his salt should be able to identify the type of players needed ....#DOF-OFF
What about the number of coaches a coach needs. Plus the stupid vests they wear ffs. Any manager should be able to see which players are fit. Way too many doing jobs one person could do.
Except we’ve probably spent more time out of the top division than in it over the years so doubt we even register to many of current players as the club we see ourselves as. Seem to remember even Matt Smith when he left that he remembered Fulham more as a premier league club than us.
