That was the point I got my early payout for going 2 goals ahead - I just somehow knew Reading were going to take this one...

Be good if we can get a return on what we paid for Glatzel but I guess a loan for the rest of the season is more likely.

Will we sign someone else? We have Moore, Watters, Mark Harris and a couple of youngsters, Evan's and Waite, the latter recalled from loan at Weston S Mare. So do we stick and give the youngsters a go or twist?

Bournemouth slipping badly, Watford tonight ....Reading & Brentford apart, it’s falling into swansea’s lap - and given their luck (that goal v Brentford jeez) ....they’ll definitely be in the play offs at worse <yikes><yikes><yikes>- unless they come off the rails :emoticon-0138-think

Unless luck goes against them or they get injuries/suspensions to key players I don't think they will.

Plug has got them playing well in a system they all understand with good cover in place. Lots of youngsters coming through.

With all the disquiet with their owners and criticism of Plug only a few months ago they have done it under the radar and really well.

They could easily make top 2 and I see no reason why they won't get to the play offs at least.

It bloody hurts to say it but fair play.

Where did we go wrong - again?

Decade after decade of mismanagement from selling Toshack through to choosing Andrews over Toshack through to the appointments of the likes of Durban, Osman, Solksjaer, Slade,Trollop, & Harris.

Ok not everything was wrong - we had differing degrees of success with Ashurst, May, Burrows, Lawrence, Mackay and Warnock but nothing ever was sustained - no blueprints were put in place.

I went to the first game after selling Toshack it was Sheffield untited away at Bramell lane. stood on railway sleepers shoulder to shoulder we got smashed 3-1 I think rees got our goal ,but from being promoted that season we lost every game if I remember and we had another year in the second div,i will never forgive our management for selling him I think it was £100000,after that we went downhill and im afraid that's all we deserved. Just saying.

I think it was the great golfer Arnold Palmer, when being described as " lucky " , responded with, " It's funny, but the harder I practice, the luckier I seem to get ".

Swansea practice free kicks into the goalmouth, so if they get any " luck " , they earn it.

Going back a bit now, so bear with me.

I used to make the trek up to Cardiff during the Toshack/Clarke era. I really enjoyed seeing those two in action. Cardiff had a decent side in those days.
Of the two, I felt that Clarke was the better all round player. Both excellent in the air, but Tosh not so good with the ball at his feet.
I remember the laughter that went around when it became rumoured that Liverpool were going to sign Toshack. Even the Cardiff players were rather bemused by the prospect.
But buy him they did, and they turned him into a great footballer, something he couldn't seemingly become at Cardiff.
To have denied him the opportunity of going to Liverpool would have been unfair on him.
    " just saying ". <cheers>

Not much point in putting blueprints in place, if you don't have anyone capable of reading, or understanding them. <laugh>

I may be wrong Vetch, and not that it matters anyway, but thought it was Gary Player who made that reply to someone who said he'd been lucky.

I initially thought it was Player, but when I looked it up Palmer was given the credit. There have been many other similar quotes down the years, so I guess it's more generic now. <cheers>

It was just something I had in my head from the past. Just had a quick gander and came up with this anecdote from Player.........

"I was practicing in a bunker down in Texas and this good old boy with a big hat stopped to watch. The first shot he saw me hit went in the hole. He said, “You got 50 bucks if you knock the next one in.” I holed the next one. Then he says, “You got $100 if you hole the next one.” In it went for three in a row. As he peeled off the bills he said, “Boy, I’ve never seen anyone so lucky in my life.” And I shot back, “Well, the harder I practice, the luckier I get.”

It seems, as Don McLean would say,

I can still remember when I saw him in St David's Hall a few years back. Great concert. He didn't hold back on artists who didn't tour. Let's say he's not a fan of Barbara Streisand!!

Elvis didn't tour. Didn't harm his career too much. Surely, if an artist doesn't want to tour, that's their choice. Perhaps they don't like to fly. I'm not sure it's any of Mclean's business who tours.
Had the pleasure of seeing Glen Campbell, twice, in St. David's Hall. He clearly loved touring.
