Shocked that our prize asset has been given away for £15 mill, with three PL clubs bidding against each other to bump up the price.
I would have valued him at £40 mill, being as he’s English and was part of the England squad before being injured
There again it seems like we are having a bankruptcy/fire sale orchestrated by Jenkins, so everything must go, what a sad state of affairs, and Mawson was one of the low salary players and would surely have drawn in a higher fee in January.
By then we could have been flying and he’d want to stay anyway. They must be desperate for the money.

Well I've seen £15 Million rising to £20 Million, and I've seen £25 Million rising to £27 Million? I think the truth is that the £15 Million is the money upfront payed immediately, with perhaps another £5 or £6 million adding later..............<ok>

The valuation of £20-25m, or even £40m, would be for a fully loaded, fighting fit Alfie Mawson, but he's not. He's just had surgery, hasn't started training so is effectively still in rehab. No one yet knows when he'll be available to play, whether his knee issue is fully heeled or how it will hold up when he does start playing again. If he stays or goes whichever club he ends up at will be taking a big gamble on his future fitness.

As for us, to Keep him or not to keep him? that is the question and there's risks either way.

Keep him and its us taking the gamble on Mawsons fitness. Will he fully recover from surgery? if he does then his value increases and our gamble pays off but if he falters then his stock plummets and we're left with a relatively valueless injury prone player.

If we sell him then we get £££triple what the club initially paid, but we run the risk of losing a player who could be incredibly valuable as a player or as an £asset in the future.

The board has to take a punt one way or the other and it looks like they are taking the other and recouping his current valuation of £15m.

Imo, its not a bad return on a valued player, given his circumstances.

I would be agreeing with you, but it wouldn't have mattered how much we made on him, that return will not go back into our club, no doubt it will find itself elsewhere. Would have been a tidy bit of business, (although I do think he is worth more, injury or not), If we had re-invested. where as you and I know it wont be.

So we have now purchased Celina and Mckay, which both look tidy signings to be fair, but that gives us, Montero, Routledge, Narsingh, Mckay, Celina, Dyer, asoro who all play wide. So whilst I think their are good signings, does it make sense when we are appallingly weak in both centre midfield and at centre half. Plus I would like a tidy keeper.

I saw an interview with Potter in which he says that he can see Celina as more of a No 10 and McKay eventually playing through the middle. I shall be surprised if we see much of Dyer and Routledge this season. Probably off the bench.

So why are we signing a wide player to move him to the middle, If we want a canter midfield player why not sign one, instead of trying to convert Mckay, just makes no sense to me.

Celina has signed now Swans website four year deal. Has played wide but prefers the No 10 role. So we've signed Asoro who has played up the miiddle but prefers the right wing. Potter can see Mckay giving us pace up the middle so can see his planning coming together.

Barry Mckay is a good signing also, and I do hope we get that Brentford boy (Woods), he's a good replacement for Leon!.....................<ok>
