This being my point, we will be up in arms if another club put in a derisory did for Joe, so that should be the same for us.
I agree - but I’m perplexed where the cash is coming from..... I know that the Yanks have put some cash in alongside the new guy, but there is a cash hole as the parachute payment is much lower this year..... Methinks that we must be selling and offloading players?
I’m expecting us to sell Ayew, Celina & Rodon. There is no news on new contracts for Dyer & Naughton so I’m assuming they won’t be back. Thus two big salary savings, plus big saving with MVH going. Based on that, we might spend some money but it won’t be much.
so far we have had a freebie from Bristol and a renewed loanee from Newcastle possibly a ploy to appease us and to make us think that SC is going to make a fist of it. Ayew winning nearly all the end of season awards available to him leads me to think he is going to pastures new along with Dyer who is obviously too old for SC and Naughton too both of whom are. on tidy wages. Money could be made by selling Celina and Roberts and perhaps someone could take a punt on Rodon who 8s injury prone. There are young players out there who could be brought in on loan probably at the beginning of October thus saving more money....there I have sorted out our transfer policy as it seems....exciting times ahead. Unfortunately in our real world unless the club is in the premier league we are all going to struggle during these weird times.
I think you will find a lot of clubs will be in the same boat as us, with less income coming in with no fans, then lots of clubs will be looking at the loan market. Any championship club that spends a bit of money, and with some good investments should make a good push for automatic places. If Norwich keep their team together, then they must be one of the favourites to go up.
Norwich are like the West Brom and West Ham teams of years gone by that were yo-yo clubs building up slush funds as they moved up and down the top two tiers....
I think it will be a relatively even playing field. Nobody has any money and lots of players are out of contract. Could be some real bargains to be had. We've spent on Moore, but expect anything else to be frees or loans. Think there will be plenty of both.
Until the season starts and we've had a few games, then it's anybody's guess as to what team we'll be putting out. As has been said above, anyone with a bit of investment and/or a decent starting squad could get promoted. We saw last season how tight it all was. I very much doubt the yanks will take a punt though.
That’s very good news. What going on with Dyer? I’d still give him a year contract, he will be a big asset to the team and squad.
Not sure although imo I can't say he contributed a great deal last season and he's not exactly a utility type player . Nothing lasts for ever so maybe his time has come.
I was disappointed that Cooper didn’t use him in the run in. He was constantly on the bench, so not given a chance to shine.
I get the sentiment Nev, and he’s the only squad member to hold a Premier League winners’ medal, but I fear he’s dined out on that now for too long. He gets to choose whether he goes gracefully ... or not.
