83 is low, you're absolutely right. Very low. Close to record low. Though you keep repeating it, I actually said 83-84. But there's a reason for that - my point is overall in the Champ we've been low for most of the season. As Munky says, it's about looking at form and fixtures coming up. I think what I might not be emphasising enough is that I've hedged my bets on this one - someone needs to go on a serious winning streak. I am getting more and more convinced that it will be us. If that happens, the 84 mark will be breached. Ultimately, we technically only need to be concerned about autos, which is a more reliable predictor and I think that might well be achievable with 81-82 points (lowest ever is 79, I don't think it will be quite that low). I cannot envisage a situation where we would get 85 points and not be in the autos. That is 26 points from our remaining 13 games. 9 wins. We can definitely do that. No doubt. I prefer to aim high though and put it beyond doubt!
Yeah, I think that's a fair point. I wasn't specifically predicting that Middlesborough will get more than 83 though, or anyone else in fact. My point was that they have the hardest games but in theory even they can lose them all and still achieve that total. i.e. it's quite achievable.
Town fan here in peace (till Sunday at least) Was interested in your analysis. Was doing same for Town last night and reckoned with us on 60 points at moment needed to get to 82 to guarantee play-off spot. In fairness, would like to see both of us going up as I think the Premiership needs more diversity geographically.
A warm welcome is always given to Binners ! 75 is the record high for failing to make play-offs. Given how congested it is for play-off position, it could well be this high. 82 points would be more than comfortable and could well see you in the autos IMO
Whoscored.com is 2 minutes ahead of the BBC site. Bournemouth commentators are getting very frustrated.
