next year we might get to play the mighty Barnsley looking at their forum they have some hardcore support they even have a forum mascot (now theres a thread idea)
Looking forward to Swindon (if they go up) and Bristol City. Straight down the M4 nice and easy. Always enjoyed going to those grounds having great banter with them although if i remember rightly the last time we played Bristol it was a bit 'handbags' after. The locals had too much cider and it went to their heads. Won't go to Plastic MK because they are not a real club, AFC Wimbledon is.
I was at this match at The Valley in November 1971 - was surprised how large The Valley was, like an amphitheatre, I was behind the goal in steep terracing (East Terrace?) - was freezing that day, ate hot chestnuts to stay warm. I travelled up from Hampshire all alone to watch the match, with my Dad's careful instructions on how to get there. Of course we lost to make the long trip home oh so much more worthwhile. BR pork pie + beer on the trip home - slept past my station stop, which made it an even longer night for me. I recall that back then Charlton & QPR fans were all mixed in together, no bovver though, everyone got on in good natured fashion. 27 Nov 1971 Charlton Athletic v Queens Park Rangers W 2-1 League Division Two I was up there:- please log in to view this image A Spotter, watching out for German air raids, during a Charlton Athletic vs Arsenal match at The Valley, London 1940 At least Loftus Road never went through this kind of dereliction:- please log in to view this image Always liked the Valley, and that East Terrace really was immense. please log in to view this image
The only Championship grounds I have been in are, Norwich, Brentford, Ipswich, Swindon from the teams in the play offs, also Wolves, Charlton, Sheffield Weds, Leeds & Fulham. I would probably like to go to Nottingham Forest and Bolton maybe. Only because they are near enough to airports and travel from here wouldn't be too difficult.
Yes, this gal from Swindon came along for the ride. please log in to view this image Diana Dors - She was born Diana Mary Fluck in Swindon, Wiltshire, and was educated at Colville House in Swindon.
