Huddersfield manager had gone as well but he has resigned. I think he did a great job last season and no doubt he’ll be back in work soon.
I thought he did well too . It must have been a tough gig for him having gone in from Leeds. I wonder if Bielsa no longer longer being close by influenced his decision.
Hadn't read that it was £10m but if true it certainly seems to be making a statement of intent. So that's a winger from Spurs and a defender from Arsenal. Team bonding should be fun.
Apparently the guy from Spurs was on loan with them last year. Spurs signed him from Leeds for £10M in 2019 though he never played a league game for them. Sunderland approaching promotion in the same way as Forrest. Splash the cash. Forrest spent over £60M so far. Thought Sunderland had been burnt once before.
No question that Sunderland are tremendously well supported club but I fear that they will suffer from big club syndrome. Time will tell.
I read Coventry want £10m for their midget O’ something- the one who thinks he’s Grealish. Annoying little bloke like that other midget bloke at QPR, Elias Sofa
Hull seem to be on a bit of a transfer spree at the moment. Their new(ish) owner starting to flash the cash perhaps? Also have to say it (despite them being OTT and for our little cousins down the road) but the Jacks unveiling videos for their new signings are pretty good/humorous... Fair play to their marketing team
Just read Huddersfield have signed Kyle Hudlin, the 6ft 9ins striker from Solihull Moors. No prizes for guessing t'Udders playing style this season. Cricked neck anyone?
Just looking at the starting line up from yesterday. I assume it will be close to what will take the field against Norwich. Just 3 players started who were with us last season. Big changes. Hopefully for the positive.
Not in any way getting "racial" here, but have you noticed the make up of the side yesterday compared to our last league game against Brum? Trying to put it delicately not to upset anyone, but In that Brum game we played Drameh (who has gone back) and Nelson as the only "non whites". Yesterday we had Sawyers, Ojo, Romeo, Rhino, Jamilu, Kipre on the pitch with Ebou Adams and Vontae Daley-Campbell still to come. I make no point other than the new signings could make Gavin Whyte an unfortunate outsider.
You're just stating a fact Sparkey. I'd suggest its typical of many UK football teams. I for one have no issue with it. All players will be assessed on their performances.
Just thinking about the ethnicity thing. I'm sure its based on genetics or physiology or some such, but you dont see many coloured 'keepers. Similarly, in American Football, nearly all quarterbacks are white.
I had thought the same, but felt it was indelicate to mention, with 8 of our 12 signings being black/brown. Nothing at all wrong with that and, as ever, it is what they do on the pitch that counts. Race or colur has never, to my knowledge been an issue at City. Compare this to some clubs, particularly in Eastern Europe, when fans pick on their own players, if not white, as a matter of course. Apart from the money they get why would they even go there in the first place?
Can't recall which game it was now but one match late last season the woman next to me made a comment just before kickoff to note that rather unusually there wasn't a single non-white player in either starting line up. Must confess I hadn't actually noticed as they're all just players to me but once the comment was made it really did strike me as being a very rare occurrence these days (certainly in the UK). I just take it as a sign of how much we have managed to move on (the fact it was odd), though admittedly there's still plenty left to do to eradicate racist behaviour entirely (or as close to fully as we can get).
Well City under 21's beat Hereford up there this afternoon 2-0 to round off the pre-seasons. I know Crole got one of the goals but not sure about the other.
