Wasps have already been stung. Be interesting to see what happens at Forrest if they dont stay up. Different rules in the prem.
Worcester getting wound up and Wasps going into admin! Who'd have thought rugby union would go that way. Such a shame to see clubs replicating the mistakes of football clubs. The bigger stick maybe something to consider by the football authorities but the effect on remaining clubs would have to be at the fore if such consideration. It might also have think about the reduction of jeopardy in the league in which the club has been competing. Change is pretty unlikely though I guess. Have a bit of admiration for the zero tolerance stance in rugby but it's such a shame that more preventative measures weren't put in place to stop clubs getting in such messes.
Amateurs trying to be professional? You would have thought they would have learned from the dire actions of and consequences to football clubs. It is actually quite amazing that, in modern times, Bury is the only league club to have gone through. There but for the grace of God and rich new owners have gone many. It probably shows that football remains a more attractive proposition to buy into than rugby. Sorry Remote.
No need to be sorry Blue. Its a fact of life. Football is where the money is and rugby will never compete. I'm fine with that, but do feel sorry for the rugby players who put their bodies through a hell of lot more for a fraction of the reward than their round ball cousins. At least they get paid something now, as compared to the amateur days. It is perverse that some individual footballers earn more in a season than the cost to run a whole rugby premiership club, including the coaches and ground staff. Football will always be a more appealing sport to the masses as you can kick a ball on your own, even have a game of some form with 2 or 3 of you. That isn't the case with rugby. And where the masses are is where the money is.
I know they made a £38M loss for their year ended 2021. I think they lost about £10M the year before that but made a profit of about the same amount the previous year on player sales to offset some of it. It depends on how the EFL stacks it up but they're getting very close to that 3 year loss limit of £39M before applying sanctions. The worry for them is that profit of 3 years back drops off the calculations this year. Only the last 2 year's losses come into it and if they report another loss for this year they will be in serious ****.
Anyway, back to the "speculation" about the Championship and the possibility that we can influence that top end this season? My pre-season bets on City went south initially but have perked a little since last week. Here's where the cashouts stand right now and I reckon they're pretty poor offers at the moment - wonder what they'll be after today? please log in to view this image
A quarter of the way in and it’s impossible to predict this ever unpredictable league. Usually by now you’d see clear front runners and relegation favourites. Perhaps it’s clearer who’ll be in the running for the top 6 but at the bottom????
Hull game v Brum, delayed start - goals too big - again!!! I wonder how many other clubs have tried this? Bit of a giveaway when the groundstaff adjust the goals second half in favour of the home team. Could be really clever and do it electronically. Birmingham winning 2.0 so we're back to 18th again. What a yo yo league.
Hudson's press conference this morning. Bagan's absence explained plus detail on other injuries. Might see Adams on the bench tomorrow IMO. https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport...kCopy&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=sharebar
Looking on the bright side. If Wurzel City lose tonight at Brom, we'll go up a place in the table. If Rotherham lose badly at Stoke, we could go up 2 places without kicking a ball. Up the City - literally........
Jumping ahead of ourselves here on the match night thread tomorrow BUT Kipre is on 4 yellows, so if he plays and gets carded tomorrow, he’ll miss out on visiting that heather laden caravan saturated place down the M4
