Perhaps tonight puts the bed the theory that Rooney is ' world class' . He was hopeless and has conned united into giving him a massive contract but never turns up when they need him. At least two very presentable chances tonight and he embarrassed himself on each occasion.

  2. Anyone else noticed that one of them actually did something in the A.Madrid vs Barca game...?

The ball looked like it had gone out for a corner but the referee (Howard Webb) played on only for the GLO to inidicate that it should have been a corner. Only pulled the game back about fifteen seconds too <whistle>

What a dull game that was... Only got interesting when Bayern decided they best go and get a goal. United should have taken the game to them.. they don't look that great at the back.

  7. Never does. The mancs think I'm being biased when I say I wouldn't play him but a genuinely wouldn't. He thinks he's bigger than the team IMO.

Bayern don't look as good as last season. I just hope that in the semis the best footballing teams win....so that would rule Chelsea out.

Definately not. We don't have great options up front but would rather lallana play behind Sturridge. I fact would rather play Welbeck! Hodgson won't drop him though

  14. Wanted them to avoid each other because of the Courtois issue. Puts Chelsea in a good bartering position for Diego Costa

  16. A.Madrid have to pay £2.5m per game for him to play against Chelsea. Its a clause in the loan agreement.

Yes he can. UEFA have ruled on it and the chavs are not going to be happy.

    http://www1.skysports.com/football/...-thibaut-courtois-playing-for-atletico-madrid

UEFA insists Atletico Madrid will not have to pay Chelsea any compensation to field goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois in the UEFA Champions League semi-final between the teams.

Courtois is on loan with the Spanish club from Chelsea, and the teams were paired in Friday's draw in Nyon.

Media reports have suggested Chelsea and Atletico agreed a clause in the keeper's contract that the Madrid team would pay around £5m in compensation if the clubs clashed in European competition. And Atletico have indicated that they would not be prepared to field him at that price, and would abide by the agreement with the Blues.

But UEFA look certain to overturn Chelsea's attempts to prohibit the Belgium international taking part in a competitive match between the teams.

A UEFA statement read: "In response to media reports referring to the situation of Club Atlético de Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, UEFA would like to reiterate its position.

"The integrity of sporting competition is a fundamental principle for UEFA.

"Both the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Disciplinary Regulations contain clear provisions which strictly forbid any club to exert, or attempt to exert, any influence whatsoever over the players that another club may (or may not) field in a match.

"It follows that any provision in a private contract between clubs which might function in such a way as to influence who a club fields in a match is null, void and unenforceable so far as UEFA is concerned.

"Furthermore, any attempt to enforce such a provision would be a clear violation of both the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Disciplinary Regulations and would therefore be sanctioned accordingly."

  19. What UEFA say and what Chelsea / A.Madrid do are two very different things. If A.Madrid want Courtois again next season then they will do as Chelsea say. If Courtois wants to continue being a Chelsea player then he will do what Chelsea say. UEFA may have said cash may not pass over, nothing stops them verbally agreeing something that sees Costa join Chelsea in the summer.

Of course, a player shouldn't be allowed to play against a parent club either as per tin the league.
