Rio camel lips Ferdinand is a cheeky twat on twitter. "How many empty seats are there at the city vs Roma game by the way....big CL game & fans would rather Ramsays Kitchen or something at home " City's support is mainly local and are clearly feeling the credit crunch like many other northerners, but overpaid former poor kids like him forget how hard things were financially before they got lucky.
I may have mis-read MITO's comment thought he was saying three points were guaranteed against Basel tomorrow
I guessed you'd misunderstood. I imagine he was saying we're better off going there having already bagged 3 points rather than having the more exciting draw you advocated, but perhaps having lost the first game. I'm with you on it, to a degree, btw. Being in the CL is all about the excitement of the big games, but I was happy with the draw in that we get to play Real, and have some theoretically "easier" games as well.
Precisely The way we have gone I'm glad we scrapped our 3 points and go to Basel knowing a draw ain't a disaster If you look at city's label they are now adrift of Roma and qualification looks dodgy Btw should we win tomorrow we'll have 6 points and so will likely real so in fact we could be a very very long way to qualification and playing real with freedom of pressure I must say we've a great opportunity now while city look under the cosh now to qualify and must bring thier a game
Never said I wasn't happy with the draw either. We got a big team that I wanted (was always going to get one) and Basel aren't exactly a small side nowadays either. Ludvanwhoever gave us a pretty damn good game in that first match too. What this group does give us is a chance of getting to the next round, something I thought we wouldn't do. I think Real will win the group. Most wrote Ludvanwhoever off before a ball was kicked. That would have meant second and third (Cl or EL) would have been between us and Basel, something most of us would have taken prior to the season starting, especially with the EL winners getting a CL spot now. Getting three points in that first game was vital IMO.
Me...? I never mentioned Roma I said Juventus! The reason I said Juventus is because it would be a massive game and want the CL is all about but also present us with a winnable (albeit hard) game still.
Not too hard to find them. Just read any press release by him. "If Cristiano Ronaldo is like Michael Jordan, then Messi is like Wilt Chamberlain who scored 100 points in one game" is a pearl on several levels.
On the City discussion: I think they're a little inflexible in their approach. It's enough to win them most games, it was just about enough to win them the league last season, and they seem a bit complacent about it. Even in the PL, when they come up against a team that successfully resists them they don't seem to have too many ideas. They have a lot of different players, but not many variations on the way they play. They seem to have several variations on Plan A rather than a Plan B. To my mind, with the players they have, and the resources available to them, they really should walk away with the league every season at the moment, but both their recent wins have been narrow, and again this season they're a bit inconsistent.
bump... are we talking cl watch here or on rival thread... seeing only mancs and tobes are on rval thread they have no interest in cl...
