Chainrai or bust?

I can't believe some Pompey "fans" would rather see our club liquidated than have Chainrai return and prevent it from happening.

Plan B; liquidation and a pheonix club, should be the very last resort! If there is any chance of us surviving, then we should support anyone who has the ability to make that happen!

If Chainrai can ride in on a white horse, pull us from the brink of extinction, and see us through this horrid rough patch (for a 3rd time), then... PLAY UP CHAINRAI!
 
Agree Jake, as long as BC pays all the players/staff wages until either the seasons end, or he can find a new "decent & honourable" owner to take us forward.

Will it happen though ?

One can only hope.

very much agreed with this article, there are a lot of people from the red (and disappointingly the blue) side of hampshire who are in support of seeing the club liquidated rather than see chanrai at the helm. i am a firm believer in that Portsmouth Football Club should be kept alive at all costs and i will 100% stay behind our club; if the worst was to happen i would be 100% behind plan B and the phoenix but ONLY in the event that we were liquidated and I believe in the supporters trust to keep to their words that no plan B would happen with our beloved orginal club still going.

with regards to chanrai, i'm very suspicious of him and personally detest the hold he has over, i don't know what his intentions are for the club but anything is better than the alternative, i just hope that if he were to buy us out of administration then he would make the correct decision on who to sell the club onto when this happens. obviously it bides us much needed time, and i dont think chanrai would make the mistake of CSI again (he visably wants to protect his money, and he knows another mess up and its over).

either way keep the faith lads, and despite all thats going on in the boardroom keep supporting appy and what players we have left as we have been doing so noisily the last couple of months
 
In a previous thread I predicted that BC had only flown in to put the club back in Administration, sadly I was subsequently proved correct. I think BC will become the new owner imminently and will keep the club running until a new owner ,if there is one, can be found or the parachute payments run out. I think he wanted AA as administrator and was prepared to pay to ensure it happened, as HMRC objected and insisted their choice of TB would be more appropriate, BC's puppet complained to his regulatory authority.

Be under no illusion BC only wants to protect his secured creditor interest, were the club liquidated he would lose out big time as the assets that secure his £17mn loan would only probably realise around £7mn. So , hew will put in another £3mn to keep it afloat and try and recover a total indebtedness then of £20mn and secure an assignment of future parachute payments, if a) his challenge is succesful against SG or b) once SG has had his 4 payments BC will get the remaining millions still yet to be paid next season.

You heard it here first from SB3.
 
Chainrai's motive for becoming 'reluctant owner' again would clearly be to try and protect his own investment. That much should be pretty clear to all and sundry.

However, to suggest that we Pompey fans would rather see the club fold than for him to take over again is a rather foolish statement. No-one would want their own club dead. We live in a far from ideal world and if this course of action results in there still being a Pompey to support, even if if means one or even two relegatioins, it's better than there not being a club at-all!
 
I agree Devo, I am not suggesting in any way that I would rather see the club liquidated, of course not! all I am saying is BC is not a saviour and nice guy or indeed a Pompey fan he is a businessman that was probably lied to, made an investment at an attractive return against which he held security, and yes he is protecting that investment. I am just saying lets not applaud him, he has after all taken us into admin twice now, and is a cold (rather than blue) blooded businessman and I would not trust him further than I could throw him.
 
I agree with everything said about Chan the Man - he is bad news in many ways. People also didn't notice how spiteful he can be as well. I read a lot about Hughes and Brown - what was published was that they were offered new contracts at less than 1/3 of their current wages, they counter-offered (we know Hughes offered to take a 50% cut) the contract offer was immediately withdrawn, no negotiations were going to take place and they had to sit out their contracts. They were both then accused, by the fans, of being greedy. Hands up everyone who will happily say an immediate yes to a 66% reduction in wages!

David Lampitt was appointed by Admin Andy/Chanrai on a rather high wage. Admin Andy was around for the Lawrence/Kitson/Wilson deal We were still in admin at the time so that had to be signed off by AA.

But what I really don't understand is why he didn't restructure the business while he was in charge. If we still have a premiership cost-base with only championship income then that is not just the cost of the players. Chanrai's only action was to increase the cost of the tickets. Chanrai remains as culpable for the problems as the rest of the management team (ie the Directors). A lot of this overspending happened on his watch.

Well, that's my view on this anyway. Feel free to disagree.
 
what are we expecting from this hero on a white horse? all he will do is come in pump the minimum money possible in whilst adding it to his final bill, sell any one worth selling in the summer and leave the club in a worse state then it was when csi took over with a squad of 5-10 players? whoever takes over would have to immediately inject cash for players and would still have the 20+ million debt to chanrai the original cva plus whatever figure gaydamak plucks from the air that year to deal with on top. the land around the ground no longer belongs to the club the ground itself is mortgaged to around 5 times its value with chanrais name on the page. what good can possibly come of this?


if (and its a big if) we could keep our history (transfer it to the new club) and continue to use Fratton park the infrastructure would be in place for a club to get back where it belongs in good time with a clean bill of health.

to me a choice between slogging a dead horse for another 6 months then going round again or starting fresh with zero debt and no foreign money grabbing pricks having a chokehold over our club then the plan b route would get my vote.

the only thing that would really concern me is what happens to fratton park.

I think you will find there are less of us that wish liquidation on your club than you imagine . Agree BC is only in it for his financial gain , but at least you will still have a club !!!!!
 
I'm not in favour of us being liquidated over being owned by Chanrai, but I very much don't want us to be owned by him. If reforming Portsmouth is the last resort, then IMO being owned by Chanrai is the second to last resort.

It appears I the only one who thinks that liquidation, setting up a pheonix club with our history attached (ala Wimbledon) would be the best way forward for us now. Ok, there are a lot of unanswered questions, which league would we start in, where would we play etc - but we would be free of the criminals, Chanrai and it is a fresh start.

I can only see one thing happening if Chanrai takes over again - and that is our complete demise in 2 years time when we have been relagted from league 2 ala Plymouth.

Get the criminals out, start again, fan based and gain back the respect from other teams/fans.

If BC takes over again I know I will be one of the fans who won;t pay the £30 to go sit at Fratton park as I know the money will just go straight into his pocket - until he has recouped his money, then he will dump us like a psycho ex-girlfriend (personal experience!).

This does make me a bad fan, it does make me any less passionate about my football club than anyone else - but if we are not liquidated, I cannot see a light at the end of the tunnel......

.....that is unless TB can find us an "Abramovich".

There is a light at the end of the tunnel - you just can't see it at the moment. A bit like the Rotherhithe Tunnel - you have to get round the next couple of corners. <ok>

I've lived long enough to know that something always turns up if you look for it.
 
You're not a bad fan, you just have a different perspective to others. We all have different opinions and, thankfully, they are mostly respected here. Both sides of the Chanrai or Bust divide are in turmoil trying to pick the lesser of two evils.
 
I think the best we could realistically expect for a phoenix club would be Southern League Division One South and West, but we couldn't rule out having to start in the Wessex League!
