I love the way the away fans were exposed in the Roker End, we were sound from our body heat but them poor ****ers down by the scoreboard, it must have been hell on earth. Never stood by the floodlights in the Fulwell either, that can't have been pleasant.
Broke my nose underneath the right had floodlight (right hand as you look from the pitch) - New Years Day 1990 - running to the shop before the southampton game, head down, and ran straight into a barrier! Can't even blame drink as I was only 14 and didn't drink! Used to stand to the right of the goal around 3 "bars" back! Loved roker park - miss it!
I was behind the goal at the first barrier after the walkway. you know where it suddenly raised about 4ft? Amazing view, amazing times.
I always found Roker Pk a daunting place,it was like a wall of intimidating noise and late 70s early 80s usually ended in defeat.Think Sunderland disappeared into the lower leagues for a while after that period
Our clubs were about the same size in those days . . . . they were similar right up until Sheik Ya body bought his football toy (lucky for you that he chose to shop in Manchester, eh) I remember Paul Power, who was a decent player, but he wasn't as ugly, or dark, as that
Yes. Yes you did. And still the fans were there. I like city. Not jealous.....no siree.. Ok maybe a bit
