Yeah, but the wait for a convincing performance goes on...

A win is a win, but we need to improve.

To be fair we dominated the entire game. Defence is a shambles and we never got out of 1st gear for the most part.

When you look at Bayern getting beat 3-1 at BATE and Chelsea not being impressive though 3 late goals makes their result look far better than it really was you appreciate these wins. Would of killed for these sorts of wins last season tbh.

Fletcher back, Rooney and RVP look like they will work well. Anderson and Cleverly were good.

Defence is the only issue and with Vidic, Smalling and Jones out and a half injured Evans its no surprise.

    Ambivilant about tonight's performance.

Not keen on the keep ball passing game, direct attacking all the way! Rafael and Evra tried to give width but never took anyone on and put crosses in. Too often it ended up back at the keeper as well who'd concede possession. As usual we were suspect defensively and never looked confident defending.

However Cleverly was looking good, Rooney was a maestro, Rafael was immense and RVP scores when he wants.

Agree, bollocks to pass pass pass. Unless you are Barcelona or Barcelona + Madrid the national side then its a load of **** for teams that fail <ok>

In control for almost the entire game but never threatened to score enough. Good job RVP is world class. Lacked width, pace and creativity for the most part and they always looked dangerous on the counter and nearly snatched a point at the end if it hadn't been for De Gea. A good win but not the most convincing of results.

I never understand the logic of playing without wingers. It forces Evra and Rafael to play two positions at the same and Evra is no longer what he used to be.

Further more Kagawa and Welbeck can easily fill in for the wingers (Nani, Young and Valencia).

Good start for Wootton. will do his confidence wonders. If Evans' injury is serious then I hope he plays next game.

Agreed on that Evra part. Rafael can do it, but Evra no longer can. Would have been a good game to play Buttner IMO.
