CFC v QPR Match Preview​

IT’S DERBY day in West London on this afternoon, as Rangers take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Harry Redknapp’s side make the short 3.7 mile trip buoyed by a vital victory against Aston Villa on Monday night – a result which lifted them off the foot of the Barclays Premier League table.

Chelsea, meanwhile, sit perched comfortably at the top of the table, having collected 23 points from a possible 27, as well as advancing to the quarter-final stages of the Capital One Cup,

Rangers fans will fondly remember the R’s last trip to Stamford Bridge, when Shaun Wright-Phillips bagged the only goal of the game against all odds in January 2013.

Redknapp’s charges are 16/1 outsiders to repeat that feat with another victory on Saturday afternoon, while the draw is priced at 6/1.

The R’s boss will once again be minus the services of injured midfield duo Joey Barton and Jordon Mutch, whilst defender Nedum Onuoha is a doubt with a hamstring strain.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is likely to recall top-scorer Diego Costa following a recent injury, but former R’s striker Loic Remy is a doubt.

QPR defender, Richard Dunne: “We're looking forward to it. The lads have been talking about the last win we had there a couple of years ago.

“There's a confidence and belief amongst the lads after our win on Monday. Training has been at a great temp this week.

“No-one expects us to get anything, but we believe we've got a game plan to go there and cause them problems and frustrate them.”

Blues defender, Gary Cahill: “I thought we played well against Manchester United but obviously there was disappointment right at the end.

“On Saturday it’s another home game to look forward to, but QPR are coming off the back of a good result.

“I watched them on Monday [beat Aston Villa] and they were great, so yet again it’s another tough game in the Premier League.

“We’re playing at home so hopefully we can get the right result. We have to prepare right and make sure we’re ready.”

Well it is chucking it down with rain at the moment here so unable to any of the chores outside today such as power washing the patio, sweeping up the fallen leaves etc and it is too dark to do anything in doors.........wohoo a free afternoon to log on and watch the footie....C'mon R's this is doable....

Nice thread 9's but the standard of the totty has gone downhill this season.....

"It's true Chelsea have a recent sticky record against QPR, and Jose Mourinho's men did make hard work of the Capital Cup tie at Shrewsbury on the back of an arduous draw at Old Trafford.
"But they've looked imperious at home. They've easily been the best side in the Premier League this season. This has to be a banker home win. Chelsea are unbeaten at the Bridge against promoted sides in 13 years and 40 matches.
"Charlie Austin is in good form for QPR and I just can't see them holding out. Chelsea should have too much penetration and movement between the lines."

Sitting in a hotel bar in Jaipur and delighted to find the Newcastle match on star sports. Believe I'll get to see the whole thing live AND at a reasonable time compared to home (2am). Sorry to tell you queens, it's early evening here, big bottles of kingfisher on the bar and a small but perfectly adequate screen.

Hopefully we can get some pace into the game with Fer playing more central and Hoilet wide left, we looked better balanced on Monday when that side was on the pitch...Vargas could cause Terry/Cahill some problems whereas OBZ would probably struggle against those 2......

If those are the players, I'm pretty sure that will be the formation.

We HAD to have an extra man in midfield today imo and it's the side I would have picked, other than having Kranjcar instead of Fer if he were fully fit.

I think that's it. 4-5-1 without the ball. ( Which will probably be pretty much the whole game. ) 4-2-1-3 when we get the opportunity to attack with the full backs supporting them.
