Some of you lot are harsh. You think that Green should lose his place on his first mistake or first bad game? Everyone is allowed a lousy game every now and then. If Green is consistent, why should he lose his place to Cesar who certainly wasn't consistent last season.
Cesar should be no2, Murphy is crap! Green has done well and should not be dropped. I think you will see Cesar on the bench against Birmingham..........Little 'ole' QPR with the Brazilian no1 as our no2, come on guys wake up and smell the lovely COFFEE! even Harry has stated he's been awesome in training!
Off you go now Cesar...Green's our number one.......Take your Chelsea shirt and your fat wage demands with you....
http://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/julio-cesar-ready-to-knuckle-down-at-qpr-8799358.html 90,000.....i bet he is happy to stay....
I'd like to add my voice to the chorus saying that Green should remain our No.1. This article is complete BS and I don't like being treated like a complete idiot by someone trying to persuade me otherwise. Cesar clearly wanted to go but couldn't match the money elsewhere. I'm happy to keep him on the bench because he's a good shot stopper. IF Green has a bad run of games, then Cesar should get his chance but I like having an English spine to the team, with good communication and a GK who can kick beyond the half way line.
I agree with your sentiments Dave but a club our size having two 1st team goalies is insane and the reason it is a bad thing having him is because his wages take up enough money to pay three decent players of which one could be a quality goalie.
Wrong!!!!! Blame is on that pube headed welsh ****. How can you blame Beard for us having a player you are "well pleased is a Rangers player" All TF and Beard did was back Hughes with his transfers. Dont remember many on here saying let him go on a free at end of season and with us paying him off. Main reason he hasnt gone is because he isnt as good as his wages. He cant kick it pass the half way line (as has been pointed out), he is suspect on crosses and you need to look at about 4 or 5 games last season to see that he is prone to letting in a savable shot and dropping a clanger. Does anyone know if Brazillian loan/transfer window is shut? Ship him out and part pay his wages?
Sorry PD but Beard aint no doormat. He could have said no Anyone who let that muppet hughes buy anyone he wanted at any price shouldnt be running the club Again i would suggest offering the bloke offering the contract is to blame not the bloke accepting it I like cesar, will do well for us if/when we get promoted
Really don’t follow that. All smacks of things being a bit easier in hindsight. The board backed the manager as you would want them to. We signed Brazils number one on a free transfer paying him the wages if he was already on. If Hughes had put together a squad capable of staying up how much do you think you would have criticised Beard for signing Cesar?
The board backed the manager Yes but at any price? Were the effects of a possible relegation not considered? Either way beard was negligent in his corporate duty to question and give a second opinion to hughes requests Yet again you miss the point - if the club hadnt offered the contract we (possibly) wouldnt be in this position now. I dont see how cesar can be blamed for accepting a deal WE offered? Yet again the 'outraged' Daily Mail readership plague this forum. I had obviously wrongly assumed we were somewhat beyond such crass kneejerkisms?
Anyway im all out of internicine arguements plus i have a very nice chilled pouilly-fume that demands my urgent attention Cheers to us and our WC goalkeeping squad
I've had a preconceived belief about football that was pretty much set in stone, batted into the stratosphere in the last 12 months. All I ever wanted was a chairman and his Board to back our Manager 100% and allow him make all the footballing decisions. I believed (naively as it turned out) that was the way a football Club should be run. Well, I got my wish when fat Thony arrived and now I realize my beliefs were built on sand. A chairman needs to be shrewd, involved and responsible when it comes to the business side of things. He shouldn't just put blind faith in his Manager and he should also have some degree of knowledge about football too. Poor old Tone did it totally arseways and this goalkeeping situation sums up the kind of mistakes he's made since he came into the Club. Someone said our two Goalie's combined wages over a year equals our entire season-ticket sales. Is this true or was it an exaggeration?
I think he's getting it right now though. Harold would have run riot with the chequebook given the chance, instead we have some canny buys, oldies on short term contracts and a couple of 'proven at this level' talents, and some real talent which we could never afford on loan. The most telling moment in this window was the failure to get Bridge - because we wouldn't pay what he wanted/give him a longer contract. Harold sulked for a bit, recognised the new order and got on with it. We've also dumped/loaned out 20+ players. We've failed to move out Cesar (no problem for me) Diakite and bloody Luke Young. I suspect Jenas was on the list too, and possibly Faurlin. But its not a bad result all round, and I bet the wage bill makes much more comfortable reading. Season ticket sales with a ground our size, and at the very attractive prices set for this season, will never get anywhere near the wage bill of a half decent club. Thats why we need to have a new stadium and be in the prem - TV money allows us to watch class players playing for our club. I don't like it, but thats the way it works.
Good debate going on, I posted on here that tony had to admit his mistakes or risk undermining all the staff at the club. I would give him a second chance if performance then improved, and as much as I hate to admit it he is doing a far better job this year. However some mistakes have been repeated or just not rectified: 1 - We still have one "token" korean that no way on earth did Harry sign. This needs stop.(Any nationality or race welcome but chosen by the manager based on talent only in future.) Plus I doubt championship shirt sales are huge in Asia. 2 - We still employ Phil Beard. How much has his vision and knowledge cost us? god only knows. Dreaming of wembly......My arse. 3 - The club website stinks. 4 - The situation and location of the family area (behind the home goal) and the points lost by not dealing with this self inflicted wound. 5 - The goalkeeping situation is a joke. I genuinly think green deserves a run as Julio stank last year. How many punches came back with interest Julio? feckin loads thats how many. Murphy should be on loan, Cesar should be on the bench. Instead we've just buried our heads in the sand. If we were struggling I bet Tony would be looking to offload us. We were ruining his image. Harry is now saving it for him and Tony's gone a little quiet, thank christ. My worry is promotion will require whole sale changes at the back, the age of the squad is going to mean another rebuild upon achiving this. Will the older players realise as the season goes on? Will a rebuild leave us back a square one again. That is our next headache.
Harry came out in the press and said Yun is doing better than expected, he was to go out on loan but has done enough to stay with us. It shocked me as I was sure he didnt rate him.
I watched the boy Yun at huddersfield Flyer, he did ok. A little wobbly when going forward maybe but he looked solid enough with his positional cover
I think TF has learnt lessons and is directing HR accordingly. If HR had his own way he would be caning the cheque book just as Hughes did. TF said no to Wayne Bridge, and the older players that we have signed are are on one year deals. We have signed two excellent younger players in Austin and Philips and the three deadline-day signings are all loans. Under TF's constraints HR has dealt well and the squad we now have is plenty good enough to get promotion. Then we re-assess.
