I couldn't make it tonight but for someone who has come in for loads of stick on here it looked on MOTD as though PK made a number of quality saves. Not least the early one on one which was crucial. I thought he may have been able to do better with their first but having reviewed it I think he moves his hands but realises the ball is long past as it was hit so hard.
What's the consensus now? Getting back to his old self?

I was a supporter of Kenny all along, but after reading the criticisms of him on here became very sceptical of him tonight. I may be being harsh, but I still feel he should have done better with the first goal, only because its straight over his head, and he was around a yard off his line. He should be able to get something on that in my opinion. BUT more encouragingly, he did make a number of saves today that he hasn't been making in recent weeks so hopefully he's on the way back up to full fitness.

what? you actually think he could have done something about the first goal? it was a bolt from the blue, a wonderstrike if you like, struck with real venom. was past him before he even had time to react. no keeper in the prem was saving that.

I've been a paddy supporter from the start, but if theres any criticism to be leveled at him tonight its that he perhaps should have pushed hendersons (or downings?) shot a little wider as to not invite kuyt in for the rebound. Thought he had a very good game tonight though.

I agree there was absolutely nothing to do with their first goal. Only with a luck you could puch that ball away because it was a thunderbolt from about 10-12 meters. Kenny was our best player after Derry and Mackie. Nuff said!

Admittedly, as I said, I was being very harsh. But a shot that's under the bar, and directly over your head, most keepers should be able to get something on it simply by raising their arms. That's why I was being critical, but this is coming from me who has been one of Kenny's biggest fans this season despite his demise.

to be fair, look at the replay. its rising and rising until about a yard from the line where it dips severely with all the topspin the guy has put on it, nothing paddy or any other keeper in the world could do about it, simply an absolute wonderstrike and a goal for the lad to be proud of. let's not take anything away from any of the team tonight (even Barton) - this is a victory to savour :) u rrrrrs!

No i dont agree in a meaningless game. Look what happened to Mackie. Murphy is not injured at all, hence Cernys injury cant be that bad.

Now for tonights game. Kenny made a good save 5 mins in, exactly the type of save he hasnt made for months. I think he was at fault for the 1st goal, it was hit dead centre and somehow he was nowhere near it but Id have to check the replay to be sure. I dont think he was at fault for the 2nd but will have to see MOTD. He also made one more good save.

It was his best game since he replaced Cerny. Now excuse me while I tackle the Barton thread!

I've been critical of Paddy recently but he made some GREAT saves tonight. Hope he's now fully fit and he can build from here.

Kenny has been a great keeper for us,last season he produced some incredible saves that undoubtedly won us games. This season he picked up an injury and put on a bit of weight while on the sidelines.Since he's been back he has looked like the injury has still been hampering him, tonight he was fantastic and the game would have been well out of our reach without him.It has been our woeful defending this season that has been to blame for our results, even when Cerny came in even two man of the match performances by him, couldn't prevent two defeats!

Agree with the other posts, best game since he replaced cerny but was at fault for the 1st, it was straight at him and he didnt move.

No keeper on earth could of saved the first goal. Not even our very own Woodyhoopleson. That was a quality strike.

What I admire about Cerny is his loyalty to the Rs. He hardly gets a look-in, but he's often the first off the bench to punch the air when we score. Good example of that last night.

Kenny was certainly not fault for the first goal and in their second goal he was fighting very well but for a sloppy play from Onuoha etc. they did score eventually. Yesterday was cleary Kenny 's best match for four months or so.

I thought he was slow for their second goal. Makes a fine save but then just lay there. Was too slow to realise danger not over. All happened very quickly but there are some keepers who might have expected to save Kuyt's goal. Too harsh?? Maybe.

Some good stops last night but let's be honest we don't have a top flight goalkeeper at the club. Paddy is the closest we have but his injury has not helped. Also looking at MOTD last night it is really noticeable how short and round he is compared to other Prem keepers. No one would have expected to save that first one, but Paddys physique (and the fact that he seemed to flinch even lower) made it physically impossible for him to get near it.
But we do now have a proper goalkeeping coach at the club now and I think this area will be sorted as a priority in the summer.

Paddy had a better game but he did get an arm up for that first goal, and then didn't follow through with it, like he thought it was going over. If he had kept moving up he would have saved it. Thought he could have done better for the second goal too, but so could the rest of our back 4 and holding midfield.

I thought Kenny did well last night. There was an odd incident in the first half where Kenny fell on a ball, covering it with his body and then had a Liverpool player, I think it was Suarez, nick it from underneath him. And in the second half, there was a kick out of goal that sailed into the middle of the Ellerslie stand. But when it mattered, he performed well.
