    For me we should try for Cahill, whats the worst that can happen, we probably won't get him but with Taylor out he would have more chance of 1st team football with us, than at Tottenham or Arsenal.

    I prefer French players because the English ones are always over rated and over priced. They also have ****er attitudes.

    sorry but these choices are precisely what pards will not go for.
    A) they're not french
    B) they'll be too expensive (english players and all that)
    C) they're not young enough

    I'd quite happily see us invest in one young defender (from somewhere in france) of star quality, costing us around 5-7m and a s**** defender like Ridgewell.

    Samba and Pieters.

    Bassong maybe. surprised he hasn't been mentioned. Hangeland's another who doesn't get mentioned much but does a good job, quite similar to Taylor as well.

    Yea without a doubt I would love to have Samba or Jagielka but they won't be sold for less than 15m and no way will Ashley spend that kind of money.

    Samba is on last year of his contract so I personally think it's worth a try.

    Younes Kaboul I would sign from Tottenham they apparently after Cahill again in January and already have alot of Centre Backs in Dawson, King, Bassong, Gallas and Corluka another defender I would sign would be Matthew Briggs who plays for Fulham watched him a few times when he played us at SJP and for England U21 he reminds of Chris Smalling and can play Left Back and Centre Back postion.

    Didn't Samba sign a long term deal a couple of seasons ago after handing in a transfer request and being stripped of the captaincy? Might be wrong.

    Good point. I couldn't believe it when we signed benny. I think Cahill is a bit different though he's very highly rated by a lot of clubs and he has Arsenal and Spurs chasing him.

    I meant as well as a CB. It's blatantly obvious we need a natural CB but with Williamson and Taylor both being injury prone it would be nice to have a full back who can fill in as well for additional cover, like Chelsea (Ivanovic) and Barca (Abidal) have.

    We oly got Colo for big money and Benny only real ever signed on loan. If he hadn't broke his leg who knows.
