Quite harsh there Bill - Sakho had a very good season IMO and I think he gets unfairly criticised because he LOOKS awkward but he's anything but.
Wouldn't say he had a very good season, but he's certainly better than he looks - he's not that awkward and is very sure on his passing. I think he'll turn out great for us with some more time getting used to the PL and growing into the role.
Sahko has them skills.
Lovren was highly impressive last season. Caulker was largely mince and Skrtels goal tally masked the fact that he was the prime reason you were so porous (OG's btw......)
Lovren would be my first choice, but also the most expensive. Has a classiness on the ball that the others don't. Maybe not quite so dominating in the air but then if partnered with Sakho you'd expect him to do that job.
Thought I heard that he's played about 5 games some of which were last minute sub appearances? Might not be 100% accurate though.
Shame as he was someone that had big potential but looks like could be stunted by constant injury problems. Looks like we dodged a bullet by not getting him though.
Inaswered this in the transfer thread a couple of weeks ago... Managed four appearances all season. In three of those he was a substitute who came on in the 88th minute or later. The other game he started, but Schalke lost 5-1 to Bayern. He also gave away a penalty for the fifth goal and was sent off So not a great season for him all-in-all.
no credit to ayre and the transfer committee for being careful and then spending on sahko then... suppose not as no credit must ever be directed towards ayre it seems.... no disrespect to anyone on here commenting this is just me making general comment on the seemingly majority view that ayre can do nothing.
well if we bought him and he did "ok" on loan.. 9 whole games doesn't suggest really that much... The guy is either developing or a mistake. All i have to go on is reserve games which didn't look good so I am looking to the preseason tour to show me something. Its not a high stadnard at that point but i want to see soem sign of development.
He did brilliantly on loan. But then got injured. He had Messi in his pocket v Barca and he can pass a ball like Gerrard.
only going by your comment but that is a bit worrying why we paid SO MUCH for a player who is no where near ready yet. £7 mill he should at least be on the bench by now. better turn out to be a super star then as why pay that much for a player that is that far off first team action? i havent seen him play myself so have no clue.
