Equally important to you maybe. Not everyone feels the need to show everyone just how darn wonderful they are by being charitable <ok>

.....And out from beneath their stones they crawled.

It's not about being "darn wonderful" <doh>

It's about respect, respect for people, our people, that fought and died for the freedom we enjoy today. <ok>

Fail to grasp the point, hardly surprising. Your donation is no more important because you feel the need to advertise it.

You really haven't got a clue, have you?

Wearing the Poppy isn't about the donation, it's about showing you care and that you appreciate what others did for us.....that their lives actually meant something

And I'd like to point out that many Irishmen stood shoulder to shoulder with the British against Nazi Germany - they deserve so much more from Celtic as do their many fans currently serving in the armed forces.

Celtic FC - Rotten to the very core. <ok>

I'm hoping this fool's in the minority.

I'd like to believe that all decent minded Celtic fans are disgusted with their clubs stance in this matter.

Rocket, i do think you are making a bigger deal out of this than you would if killie banned the poppy. B-Celtic is perfectly entitled not to wear the poppy if he so wishes, it is this very freedom which the soldiers the poppy recognises died to protect.

    And what?

Of course it's good to give as I rightly pointed out but I'll repeat that it's only the first part.

Wearing it and showing you care is far more important.

The fact that I'm a Celtic fan clouds your judgement Rocket. Says more about you...

I hope you're fishing here Douglie cos if you're not you've just gone way down in my estimation.

Of course he doesn't have to wear the Poppy, haven't you read the thread?

It's about choice but it appears that Celtic FC won't be giving their fans that choice as they've banned it. <doh>

As far as I'm aware Celtic are the only club in Scotland to do this.

I dont have an issue with the poppy itself, i wont wear one because to do that would be to donate to a charity which i dont like to support.

But anyone shoudl feel free to donate and wear said poppy if they wish - but like i respect their right to do so then surely you shoudl respect my wish not to?? no??

I'll just stop you right there if you don't mind.

I have many friends and one or two relatives that are Celtic fans, fortunately not as narrow minded as you though.

It's not my judgement that's under scrutiny here, it's Celtic FC and as usual they're calling it wrong.

Celtic havent said you cant wear a poppy to celtic park - they are simply not allowing that charity to collect at that ground. Its the charity that is the problem - not the symbol.

Many a celtic fan will wear it and wear it with pride.

We all have our own voices and opinions, we arent told what we should or shouldnt believe in

I know you lot have to be told what you shoudl and shouldnt like without really understanding it

But of course I respect your wishes, how many times have I already stated in this thread that it's all about CHOICE

It's the refusal of Celtic FC to give their fans that choice that I'm getting at.

Aye cuz football grounds are the only place to buy these things arent they??

Celtic have decided they dont support the charity who want to collect at their ground. Lots of charities ask (and are refused) permission to collect at Ibrox or CP each week. This is no different

i was half fishing with my post rocket. I wear a poppy and do various things to aid remembrance but i still respect some peoples wishes not to wear the poppy. I agree that you are perhaps letting the fact that it is celtic who did this blind you slightly, Does anyone know if celtic allow any charity to collect at celtic park?
