They are wasting their time. No way will UEFA reverse this decision. It'll make them look like a bunch of incompetent fools who don't know what they're doing. Oh wait......
its just a joke the player had no effect, 6-1 aggregate is testament to that, fair enough he shouldn't have played, but why not just fine them, what were the stupid uefa officials doing who accepted the team sheets? ridiculous **** off celtic, joke of a club
The match was awarded 3-0 default to Celtic making it 4-4 on aggregate with Celtic going through on away goals. Legia have now lost the tie and drop to Europa.
They'll be knocked out in the groups. We won't have to put up with them & their plastic paddy ways. All their best players want to leave anyway.
Like ****, Champions League clubs get their arses wiped enough without match officials having to ensure that the sides they've picked have all the correct paperwork .... **** em', I loathe Celtic but Legia made a schoolboy error and have to deal with the consequences.
If they get knocked out in third place then we have every chance of having to put up with them in the Europa knock-out stages.
If Celtic have to stoop this low, having been comprehensively outclassed, then I hope they get the hiding they deserve in the next round. The guy comes on for 4 minutes when the game is done and dusted. Just man up and forfeit - going through on a technicality of this kind and accepting this as a bona fide reason to progress shows Celtic to be a club of very little substance. Fifa Fair Play!!!!!
this decision had absolutely nothing to do with Celtic, it was a UEFA ruling so why criticize, do you want them to say,"we didnt deserve to go through so let Legia go in" get real, the Celtic manager has stated he feels sorry for Legia but to say that Celtic have stooped so low is ridiculous. As regards saying Celitc are a club of little substance, they,re one of the most famous clubs in world football, remember 1967,first British club to win the European Cup.
Celtic probably handed someone a bag of cash. They were apparently going to be 33 million down from last years revenue by going out so early in the Champions league.
don't think so, Celtic did not budget for being in the champions league, i don't suppose the Allams budgeted for City qualifying for the Europa league either.
There were a whole bunch of articles stating they were going to be in some slight financial difficulties because they in fact had budgeted Champions League, thats how I know they were going to be down 33 million, because they specifically discussed their financial trouble due to going out so early.
From UEFA - Champions League rules state that players must be registered with Uefa within certain deadlines and “only eligible players can serve pending suspensions”. Uefa disciplinary regulations decree that a match may be forfeited if an ineligible player participates, “as long as the opposing team files a protest”. So you filed a protest, got a team thrown out on a technicality because they inadvertently played an ineligible player for three minutes in a game they were winning 6-1. Congratulations, it's good to see sportsmanship is alive and well.
What a shambles. Rules are rules and Uefa have done the correct thing in what they have done. I bet siomeone @ Legia Warsaw is now looking for a new job or worse ?
The match report on the BBC wesbite stated how they would be 33m down. Doesn't take a journalist to find that
it does seem a bit much tbh with all this officialdom at UEFA , you would have thought it was someones job to point out the error before it was too late . I know the clubs ultimately responsible but it reminds me of those instances where golfers or caddies can make a mistake on a scorecard in golf for the whole day to be up ****zlecreek
