It has been confirmed that the rumour, concerning the possibility that caviar may not be available in the Silver Ring, is indeed a rumour.

Wonderful decision by Black Caviar's connections to travel across the globe and put the horse on a "hiding to nothing!"
Most of her opponents today are top handicappers at best and, if she loses, I cannot think of a greater dent to a top horse's reputation in my lifetime.
If she wins, yes, her reputation will be not so much enhanced as "confirmed."
For the brave decision to go to Ascot, I hope she wins by a distance in record time.
Also, it may give Clare Balding another horse to talk about- she's given Frankel more air- time than the rest of Ascot's winners put together.
<bubbly> To Black Caviar!

Fish paste will also be available.

I applaud the mare's connections, and wish them all the best, but I'm afraid I have to lay her for a place, purely on value grounds. She'll probably win by daylight, and I hope she does because getting the best horses from around the world to come to Ascot in June is a laudable ambition for the course and the sport, but at 1.09 to lay for a place she has to be taken on. She's come half way round the world to run on soft ground at a uniquely idiosyncratic course, and that's enough reason to risk £47 to win 500.
