I wouldn't mind Rooney myself. On his day he is one of the best around, dynamic and hard working. He wasn't great last year but probably had his nose put out of joint by RVP and has obviously had some issues with Fergie. With the right manager and a new lease of life, he could do wonders for us (or a.n other). Remember how good he was up top on his own for United around 2010-2011. He wouldn't be my first choice but seems better business than paying twice as much for Cavani who is unproven in the P.L.
Two Rooney's for the price of one FIGURATIVELY speaking. Its about hedging your bets. Conside a Rooney and a Lewandowski for the price of one Cavani. 26 million buys you a damned fine striker and is what Cavani and Falcao could have been worth two/three years ago. 53 mill buys you two damned fine strikers and doubles your chances of one turning into a great.
