Well like all youngsters, there's an element of risk. He's primarily a left-back but can play in the centre!! Difficult to say, but he was one of the 'shining-lights' in that miserable performance against Shrewsbury. Brendan giving him & Alfei much praise!! He's featured for the U21's & has had a run-out in the Carling cup last season. Made the bench at Derby under Sousa, no mean judge of defensive character!! Ben Davies is another, I was impressed at the Liverpool reserve match, but seems a bit small. There's Alfei too, but in that same match I thought Davies outshone him. Not sure about Jazz in the middle though...
Think positive boys! it could be a chance for Lita or Moore to shine , and we may have enough of the game not to be too woried about the defence. Tension on the terraces will transfer to the pitch IMO , 3/4 of our first choice defence isnt bad then we have super keeper vorm between the sticks so its not all bad! If we cant rely on a youngster for a couple of games then there is not much point in having them !! our youngsters are capable of being nursed through a game against WBA ,Chelsea of course is another matter but cross that bridge when we get to it . In fact Monk may be fit enough for that game , good enough maybe not but experience will count and Ash seems to play well along side gary (also caulker ) . If we play a young defender all the manager needs to tell him is to not mess about with it and slam the ball in row Z if in any doubt. defensive headers, tackling and marking should be bread and butter to any kind of defender but obviously i understand its at a very high level .
