i think it would be a mistake to sell catts. i think di canio should give the lad a chance. if he can get him fit and keep him fit he is an asset to our club. he could be the leader di canio needs to bring it all together if he can play enough games

Again Cest cant disagree with this. I think what we have to do though is look outside the box regarding PDC. Mr Short clearly is going down a different track to what he had with Bruce and MoN. PDCs passion will help in during the difficult times (and there are going to be some) but what will help him and i have mentioned it previously is stability and experience in the dressing room. Catts, O'Shea, Brown (if he comes back which i'm not convinced) and the likes of Gards Johnson et al will help with this.

Agreed mate and as i said, i love to see Catts play he's all blood and guts and i love that. You have to remember though that there is no quotes in that article from the club and the players already brought in are not necessarily destined straight for the first team, they will most likely spend some time in the youth and B teams so we do need payers like Catts. I geuinely do hope it is just ****e lazy journalism and that PDC can get the best out of Catts, i reckon he could be similar to Gerrard if he knuckled down and could stay fit, or at least as important to us as Gerrard is to the bin dippers.

A captain should lead by example and given the type of player he wants and the level of discipline he requires in terms of diet, lifestyle, fitness etc. Di Canio will not entertain Cattermole. Personally, I've never liked Catts and was disgusted when he was handed the captaincy. He's a puss head, troublemaker and he smokes as well which is not the type of player I want to see at the club. Appreciate the fact he has some admirers but I'm not one of them!

Di Canio wants rid of Catts for one reason only Catts has the balls and passion for the club to stand up to him and Di Canio wants pussies who will obey his every word even when he's wrong!

Hope this isn't true as Catts is streets ahead of Gardner, Larsson and Vaughan imo.

I know he's had an operation to help clear up this long lasting injury in his knee so hopefully he will be fit in pre-season and can prove his worth.

Would be extremely poor of PDC to let him go without seeing him play as he still has something to offer.

I'm with cest on this. Bringing in new players is exciting and fresh blood is never bad, but PdC has never seen him play. If he is fit for next season he will be the steel in the team that new lads need as they find their feet. Ditto Gardner who I rate as a solid pro in his own right.

Hope this is true because I can't stand Cattermole. he is just a average player at best & with the new Cm players coming in then he will not be needed anymore.

Why are people moaning about Di Canio getting rid of most of our players for? let's get it right, we was one of the worst teams to watch & we should of went down.

People are always blaming Catt's for his injuries, As far as i've seen it's 100% the clubs fault. If by some miracle he does pass a medical this summer then we'll get an absolute pittance for him. He'll be moved on eventually but now is so not the time. He still has plenty to offer and now he's finally got his operation, deserves an injury free season with us. Then we might get our money back. Staying as captain is another matter though.

I`m with BGM on this. I`m not in Catts fan club either.
He`s a decent player, but imo not much more.
No doubt the passion is there but too often it overflows into reckless. The injuries may not be his fault but stupidity is.
I don`t see he would be that much of a miss.
