You'd be wrong.... September 19th 2024 "Yes we lost every game in the Championship, but that was last season, its a new start- We beat Oxford United 2-1 only 3 weeks ago! Ok we lost the next 3 but you lot are so fickle. He needs time to bed in his new players, and we only spent 70 billion in the transfer market. He's got no option but to play Elyounoussi as he hasn't been backed properly. He needs help, he's only got 40 coaches to support him. Besides who else would you have instead?" Or something like that
My own view is that a certain amount of blame has to be down to the international break, and the fact that JWP and ABK were both called up, and responded by playing like drugged gibbons. Having said that, I agree with the majority view that Ralph got the selection totally wrong for this game. That’s down to him and no one else, but it still doesn’t excuse the poor individual performances by many of the team.
Tbh i wasn’t even ranting in my post, just messing around. Maybe Tom read it differently in his head to how I was saying it? I don’t really let football work me up too much. I also wouldn’t call the reaction on here a melt down. Everyone is calling it as they see it. That performance and team selection from Ralph was one of the worst I’ve seen from a saints manager. It was up there with Pellegrino. Villa were there for the taking. They were absolutely dreadful. Yet somehow we were worse and played a ludicrous line up.
Made worse for me waking up at 2am local to watch, not intentionally, I was up for a pee and started what was an apology for a football match. Couple of big Bintangs helped but added to the hangover. We suffer greatly for the cause as do fans of other clubs, couldn't give a flyer for them they can wallow in their own mire.
Don’t agree. I haven’t seen any screaming for his head. You’re over cooking that. It was an awful performance, much more than just bad. Everton is now massive for US all.
Good last point. Players know that many fans gun for the manager with a bad performance, and virtually get away with their own indifferent role. They're the ones being paid to utilise the ball to the team's benefit, pass to each other and measure their distribution after all.
The passing in particular was abysmal on Friday, just 73.7% completed according to the Sky stats. Most of those successful ones were sideways and backwards, and hardly any forward passes penetrated their lines. You just can’t win matches like that. While Ralph shares some of the blame for picking them, the players are the ones who are guilty.
Which goes back to KWPs admission that they just didn’t execute what they’d been practising in training.
It all comes down to Ralph's mindset and I think he sees Mo El and Djenepo as better defensive options than say Aribo and Stuey (to the detriment of the team's creativity) and therefore they are getting selected. The Ralph that first joined us would have been far more positive and I think he has been mentally scarred by a few heavy beatings. I think that he needs to go back to being that forward thinking coach especially as he has far greater attacking options at his disposal now, let the oppo worry about our attack rather than the other way around.
You do do know we have lost three out of four, right. But of course we were unlucky against united and wolves, you make your own luck, we know we needed a quality attacker and we did not get it done in the transfer window, we got some great talent for the future, but this is here and now. We have no creativity.
But they have to be the right opinion, just like the Political thread, no difference of opinion allowed. Opinion are just like arseholes, we all have one and most of them stink, well ours do, but not everyone's.
What pisses me off more than anything else on this forum isn’t people making legitimate criticism of the team, the manager, the club and its owners, or anything really. It’s the myth that people aren’t “allowed” to express that criticism. A cursory reading of any of the threads proves the opposite, and yet people still come out with it from time to time. It’s totally baffling.
There are some people who clearly are reading any opinion expressed by a moderator as the only “allowed” one I expect it comes from all the talk buzzing around about Twitter allegedly banning only certain views. Or other forms of media censorship. And it seems some people inherently think that mods disagreeing with them is the same thing. Despite no posts being removed
