I've just joined CAST and will be attending the meeting barring other commitments. Happy for Dick or Nick to be for the voice of Not606.
I am more than happy to do anything I can to help, depending on how the other regular contributors on this thread feel about it. I have posted on ITTV that the Trust should get in contact with Super & have a presence on this board.
I still don't see where they will be my voice - but it looks like I'm in the minority. They're always welcome to post on here - like most people.
Super - CAST won't be your voice. I too am highly skeptical about CAST, but on this occasion they have performed a useful function by facilitating the public meeting.
Just to add that I can do 16th, 18th or 20th in that week, but not the Tues or Thurs due to work commitments. The current date is Wed 18th I understand.
I agree. This has to be a FANS meeting. This is more important than Bovril supplies and it is vital that this site is recognised and able to contribute ideas and thoughts. We cannot allow this to be a marketing exercise for the trust or a chance for the thermos flask revolutionaries to polish their dicks in public. Already the trust have been very clumsy in calling out a few to sit on the 'top table'but have ignored this site completely. I hope this is an oversight and the rallying cry is a genuine attempt to include all. I trust in nick/dick or whoever on here implicitly to represent the broader church.
Just to add my voice to the multitude. Nice to see a fans movement forming up, and quite happy to see Nick and Dick represent us on there. There is just a small thought, that all fórums being represented seems like a good idea, so who will ITTV send as their voice?
That's it, Typ. I just think with everything that's gone on over the past year (bovrilgate) will result in KM and RD shrugging their shoulders. They're not an intimidating force (obviously I'm not referring to a physical motion). The same people that will put it to the club that we've had enough are the ones who yell 'how high' following Katriens demand to jump. I appreciate them holding a forum to discuss all things Charlton, but I just don't think they're suited to follow it up with the club.
I think all Charlton fans should go, if they cant get on mass outside, just like we did at the Town Hall all them years back
Slightly concerned that they are looking for a venue that holds 250. I am concious that some of my views have antagonised some in the past. If I do represent this site then please be assured that I will pass on your opinions verbatim and unvarnished. We need to agree a best way forward for all after a date and venue has been agreed.
The time for meetings and committees has far passed. The time is for action. Action is what they'll understand, and action is what'll bring them to the table. We need to be heard publicly, on SkySports, Football League Show, Football League Paper, Daily Mail, any avenue on us. We need to hack into the JumboTron every match and display messages against the Network, Luzon, KM and RD. More people need to be reminded what it is to be a Charlton fan, and only strong action can help restore pride in both the community and with the fans.
Is there any point in bringing them to the table? All they are likely to say is that we must understand that they will do things their way. Leopards don't change their spots, and Douchebag won't want to run his Network any differently, which will mean the end of Charlton as we know and love. He and Katrien have shown their contempt for the fans, and the only solution is to find a new owner. Part-ownership by the fans should be considered.
Of course, and I'll be there. It's just my view that we have to look at how the Carlisle fans eventually managed to get rid of the appalling Michael Knighton, because I believe that getting Roland out is the only answer.
This is the public meeting that the G21 wanted to call last year, isn't? The difference is they were trying to be proactive over the threat posed to CAFC by being incorporated into Duchatalet's nertwork and were trying to head off the situation we now predictably find ourselves in. This meeting is reactive and is rather like shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted. We were warned where it was heading by some people with a heavyweight track record but they were not heeded. Interestingly, those who attacked and ultimately killed off the G21's initiative to bring the owner to the negotiating table now appear to be the most vocal supporters of this meeting. I'd rather we had been proactive than reactive, but better late than never. Let's be honest, though - it is a year too late!
Tough one. I think it was too quick off the bat to go for RD last year, and the G21 represented disgruntled ex employees trying to create an identity in a new regime. There was little to go on from what they said - indeed even Standard Liege were having a wonderful time at that point. We now have evidence to go on - his investment is null, he's made the same mistakes for the 2nd January in a row (despite KM admitting their failure the year previous) and we are on our 4th manager. I'd say a lot has changed since that meeting was called. And I wouldn't guess they are able to read the future. Though with their ego's I'm sure a few will be thinking (not stupid enough to say it) ''I told you so''.
Kent -If that is a dig aimed at me then I am afraid you are wrong. I don't support CAST or their aspirations. I welcome them facilitating this meeting, but nothing else. I am happy to go along & represent the good people on here with DP, but the bottom line is that only mass civil disobedience towards RD via withdrawing our cash will force him to walk away, talking shops won't.
All fair points. But although nobody could read the future a year ago, it was obvious that a franchised network was going to be bad news for CAFC and we were warned that it would be. Whatever the individual personalities involved, the kind of assurances the G21 were seeking a year ago about what being part of a network meant and how it impacted upon recruitment and transfer policy were valid. The response of those who attacked them and declared 'Duchatalet 100 per cent support' was at best head in the sand and at worse driven by personal spite towards the likes of Rick Everitt, Richard Hunt and Steve Dixon. It;'s not a case of 'told you so'. But the '100 per cent' RD supporters who have now become the leaders of the Roland/Katrien lynch mob need to have a long hard look at themaselves.
We have to put this internal name-calling behind us, Kent. As our wise leader said "We're all in this together"
