Whether against Blackburn or not, would it be reasonable to try Mason instead of Conway in that 5 man midfield?

I know Joe's not a natural wide player and wouldn't give us the option out left, but Craig isn't doing the biz at the mo like he did earlier in the season. Not complaining, just wondering.

Craig has very little pace anyway to beat his man on the outside, and tends to send in his crosses on the angle rather than pull backs. Mason has shown the effort every time he's been given the opportunity and would be a real menace to the opposition playing just behind and off Kenny.
 
The way we set up and the fact that we have a game plan that everyone understands means players are adaptable, within reason. The midfield could almost be Whitts plus any 4 from 8, and even Whitts has done several roles in midfield. It's the beauty of having a team approach.

Now might be the time to put earnie just behind Miller. He must be chomping at the bit.

I'm happy to leave it to MM. He seems to know what he's doing!

It's sparkeys fault, and he knew what he was doing by using the word "case" when talking about Mason. He knew some brain dead twit would seize the chance to jump on it - and true to form, there I am. <laugh>

I think Mason can put some iron in the side and put a burr under the saddle of the opposition.

Didn't Jason Perry go out on loan to Scunthorpe (The Iron side) at one time, or was that Alan Cort?

That's a decent shout Hilts, but we'd tend to revert to the old 4-4-2 with that lineup, and I certainly wouldn't start with it the way things have been going. To my mind, that's a better option as a substitution

Keep the present format with Mason playing in the hole behind Miller instead of Conway out wide. Playing through the centre should draw opposition full backs inside allowing MacNuggets and Taylor the chance to overlap. Let's face it, we haven't got a winger at the club who can do it.

Sorry to revert to football, but there was a serious point to the OP.:emoticon-0105-wink:
 
Proph - Malky has subbed Conway 8 times in the last 9 games - only against Coventry did he see out the full 90 minutes, and there was a good argument there for Mason to replace him after they'd equalised.

I don't think he's got back to where he was before he was injured (against Ipswich?), and he seems to be struggling on times - looks like Malky might think so too.

Mason has been brought on for Conway on at least 3 occasions recently that I can remember, and young Joe could do with the boost of a place in the starting lineup. His confidence must be up after that winner on Saturday and a start would add to his game.

I know Malky's said he wants to bring him on slowly, and Mason himself says he's "prepared to play a waiting game", but If he gets that lift soon, he could be the find of the season.

Perhaps I should have said "he would confirm he's the find of the season".

As for the £250K fee from Plymouth, it was just half of what they paid us for Steve McLean three years back - says it all really - Cheers Riddler.
 
£500k for MacClean months after we had him for free.

Weve done some good business with them.
