    I am glad that Carver has gone and happy that he is getting a decent payout. Hopefully he will get another job coaching and not turn up as a matchday pundit spouting his typical gobxxite.

    No we need a good solid core of players who know the league and know what its about. SBR showed us the way. The problem is to get half decent core of players who know the league, you have to pay the money. As we did with Shearer, Speed, Woodgate, Jenas, Milner, Dyer etc. This regime would rather go and buy a bunch of second rate French players just in case the odd one turns out alright.

    We certainly need better quality right across the board. We need to buy a better calibre of foreign players, and a better calibre of home players. The nationality of the coach is neither here nor there. They aren't on the pitch dealing with the cut and thrust.

    Its not rocket science. Buy a top quality spine of home players, and surround them with quality whether from home or abroad. It works time and time again.

    I can't help but rejoice in Carvers departure a little. He was garbage as head coach. Whether him and Stone etc are garbage as coaches in general is difficult for anyone to to truly pinpoint. We don't have the quality in the squad and you're only as good as the tools you are given. Certainly Carver was fine as a No.2 under SBR.
