Really? I thought they were about similar, known quite a lot of people with them that have lasted for years with hardly any issues.
Maybe just my preference but i have always found Ford very reliable. The only Vauxhalls I ever had were a second hand Chevette and a brand new Astra estate, both were nothing but trouble.

Sometimes a lot of luck involved at this end of the market really.

For £3k mate you should be able to pick up something pretty decent. Don't need to go buying an old banger for those beans.

I won't necessarily spend all of that if I find something decent for less, and likewise wouldn't mind going a bit over either if I found something I really liked.

What about Japanese?

Honda Civic, so reliable I once had one described as boring because you always knew exactly how it would perform <laugh>

Don't know much about them tbh mate. But I think a lot of Jap cars have got a decent reputation. Especially Honda
