I haven’t actually done that yet.

Though when driving the Beamer I stalled it as forgot to change gear.
We hired a car abroad a few years ago. The missus was driving from the airport, probably because I’d been drinking on the plane, and the car was bunny hopping down the motorway. Silly mare had her left foot on the brake.

She was terrified when I got her a new car as the one she wanted only comes as an auto now. To be fair she got used to it pretty quickly.

Evening dudes, been browsing the cars again this evening while hungover and it's come down to the fact I am getting a five series.
Got three options, although can't actually hand my work car in till next month so might yet miss out on all.

My mate has a garage and has two; one at 10990 and one at 14990. I'd expect the 990 to be knocked off both so it's a case of whether I go for the cheaper and older versus the costlier one being a nicer looking m sport.

There's also one for sale in a BMW dealership down where I work. That would be 11.5k. It's a 3 litre too so got the extra poke.

That's favourite currently and I'll go have a look tomorrow.

As others have said (Sweats and Tel, maybe Piskie but I'm too drunk too check) go for the 3 litre.

We went from a 535d m sport to a 435d m sport convertible last year and although we tried a few 2 litres at the time of getting either car the difference was too big, regardless of the difference in price.

Test drive booked for Monday at two so very likely I'll buy it, unless someone else does over the weekend!

50k on the clock, I reckon I can add another 80k to that before changing it.

Beamers are lovely cars. Very nice and responsive to drive. I probably would have gone for a 5 series touring but needed a something a bit more ‘agrigultural’ for lugging stuff around and driving on tracks and through fields etc. Loved my old 320d. though.

I might regret not going for the estate version but really there is plenty room in the boot of the saloon and I'll have to make do.

There was a 63 plate m sport touring there but they wanted nineteen grand for it.

That moment when you first drive an automatic and go to change gear and put your foot on the brake thinking it's the clutch. Only happens once.

not in the case of my old man.
When i needed him to drive my motor I used to have to watch him like a hawk so i could hit his hand before he decided to switch into neutral at 45mph <yikes>

Been chatting to a mate about buying an old 90’s motor that may become collectible. I’m on the hunt for a mid 90’s Renault 19 16v. I used to own one which is ridiculous. Should have kept the ****er.

Was a nice little motor.

Was good, lovely car.

Couple of minor niggles; no sat nav, no DAB, no collapsible rear seats and, biggest of all, it has a leak in the front window seal.

None are massive deal breakers but I came away considering a newer M Sport with non of the above.

£4k more expensive though.

Off to play squash, will do the finances when I get back!

Go for the touring mate. They are so much more practical and will hold better value.

The leak from the front window seal is a potential deal breaker if I was buying it, as if it’s been leaking for a while there’ll likely be water ingress behind the dash and therefore potentially into the wiring and control units etc, which could cause problems at a later date.

Not to general mention mould and damp problems.

I had an absolute mare with a Volvo XC90 that was leaking water from blocked sunroof drain pipes. Basically water was discharging down the inside of the wing instead of outside of it, and it was running under the dash and into the foot wells of the driver and passenger side. On the driver side there is a control unit for the yaw rate sensor, part of the anti-skid and electronic stability control. The water fried the unit and so basically the anti-skid switched off and I was driving a car with no stability control. It was a common problem on the XC90 along with failed Haldex unit and diff transfer box failure (although unrelated to water ingress) Calamitous issues for a 2.5 tonne SUV to be honest, because you end up with a heavy car that has no 4WD or electronic stability control.

Water ingress is never good news, but from the windscreen area it’s a red flag. Not to mention that the 5 series screen is bonded and shouldn’t leak ever, so whys it leaking in the first place? Swerve

I'm going to.

Given it a bit of thought already and it's not worth taking their word for it that it will be fixed and once it's mine they won't care a ****.

I spotted the condensation on the windscreen last Friday when I had a quick glance so it was the first thing I was going to check. It dripped on me before I had chance!
