Got a one year old Ford Mondeo estate. Very exciting. Great car; got all the gadgets, eats up the miles, loads of space and the boot fits golf clubs, golf buggy and all the gear comfortably and out of sight. It's black though so shows up dirt and as a result looks older than it is. Favourite car I ever had was my Alfa 156 twin spark veloce. Cost me loads in repairs as it often broke down but I ****ing loved it. Every man should own an Alfa in their lifetime.

I'm always lugging stuff around for my business, as well as surfboard, bikes, kids, dogs, boxes etc. The allroad has got a good boot and the AWD and adjustable suspension is handy for getting down tracks and across muddy fields. But I'm realising it's a bit small for what I need. I'd love to get a VW T5 but can't really afford it. Looking at something like (well) used VW Touareg or Volvo XC90. Anybody on here owned one of those ?
Drive a Mondeo 05 plate for day to day **** (work). Bought the Mrs a Golf 2.0 FSI (also 05 plate). I drive that when I'm not working. Best car I have ever had was a Caterham Super 7 - when I was 18. It blew up in South London and I just left it on the side of the road. It wasn't insured and wasn't in my name, so I dun and run. Seriously fun car, ****ing rapid, basically a motorbike on 4 wheels.
Actually, further to the Sierra story above. I do have one vehicle that outdid that for ****ness and bad luck. I bought a Nissan Urvan when I was moving house, cheap as **** £250 and beat up just about everywhere it could be. The battery in the back was shorting out, so the bloke I bought it from had used some electrical tape and a pair of pliers to make an earth with the body of the van, dodgy as ****. He said to me as long as nothing metal touched it, it should be okay. So anyway, a few days later I went to get in the van parked round the corner from my house and it was gone. At first I thought I must have parked it somewhere else, then it slowly dawned on me that it had been nicked. About two months later I got a call from Deptford car pound that they had my van and had traced me down via then VIN number as the plates had been changed. When I got to the pound, the bloke doing the paperwork explained that the Police had picked it up outside of Southwark crown court. Apparently a Nigerian bloke had bought it at auction, with the intention of shipping it over to Nigeria with a load of furniture, and electrical appliances to set up home for somebody. He'd parked it outside of Southwark crown court and something in the back must have touched the battery terminal and shorted the starter motor. The Police got suspicious when they drove past and saw this beat up old van with welded up back doors sitting squat on it's suspension. So they ran a number plate check and it came up as stolen with fake plates. At that point they thought it was a car bomb, so they called in the bomb disposal squad, who smashed the back window, saw that it was full of furniture, so they got the Old Bill to impound it. When I went to start it, it wouldn't start, I couldn't get in the back as the back doors were welded shut, there was a bulkhead between the cab and the back, so it was game over. I went back to the office, gave the bloke the V5 and told him that matey who bought it at auction could have it. I'm sure he was chuffed as he would also have got a £400 impound fee too
Currently a Golf TDI. Fast enough for what I need now and easy to park except in Sevilla where parking is worse than the West End in London. Best car I've had was a Triunph TR6. Unfortunately it had to go when little plug arrived as at the time I couldn't afford two so got a Dolomite Sprint. Good, but just not the same. First car was a Renault Dauphine. It used more water than petrol and I often had to stop at a pub for a pint of beer for me and 4 pints of water for the car.
My first car was an MG 1300 in terrible condition. I bought it for £110 when I was 17 and more than half the value was in the tyres. The best car I've had is a Subaru Impreza Sti.
The reason my Super 7 blew up was due to me using it as my daily run around at 18 years old. They're meant for Sunday driving, not driving around estates in London scoring drugs. The ****er was so loud, sounded amazing. I never changed the oil, or did anything to it tbh, Just thrashed it around the streets. It lasted 6 months, cost me 8k (20 years ago). Happy days!
Current is a BMW 3 series M sport 330 on an 08. Fast as. Worst car rover 213. Like the one out of keeping up appearances when I was at uni. Hated it. Favourite car when I was young was a mk2 golf gti. ****ing loved it.
I've had a Golf TDI, Mk4. Amazing cars that stood the test of time. To me they still don't look outdated today. That 1.9 TD PS engine in the Golf is perfect. And the body and chassis makes it like driving a souped up Go-Kart. Brilliant fun. Used to get 50mpg out of it too.
My brother in law (well not officially) recently bought a Mk 1 escort in absolutely mint condition, all the rally lights on it etc. Cost him 25k, he doesn't drive it, just keeps it in his garage and takes it out once a month to keep it ripe. He's bought it to leave to his kids when he passes on. They're going up in value at such a rate that in 50 yrs it will be worth an absolute fortune. The car is unbelievably nice. Serious car. I'll try and get some pics, as I'd like people to see it, it's that nice.
Classic car, I take it it's a Mexico? Not sure he's put his dosh into the best car if he's looking for an appreciating asset though, but still a lovely thing to own.
You'd be amazed at how collectible old **** cars are. Mk1 & mk2 escorts are very collectible and silly money. My mates old Capri is up for sale from the guy who bought it off him 25 years ago for over 20k A metro mg turbo ffs are making over 10k
