Most clubs are in debt these days.....I would imagine there are a few with more than we have! If we cleared half our debt with the promo money, we'd be in a pretty good place. The new parachute payments are a bit of a windfall too.

Very funny Andy, you picked a warm up and a friendly match....stats don't lie!

Interesting stuff, we've got the highest % attendance outside the premier league top 5.

What annoys me most about the hotel is that, supposedly, the entire point of leaving that corner free was to allow air circulation to the pitch, otherwise the grass doesn't grow very well, which is why some all-seater stadiums have poor pitches. I'll take that logic, so why ruin that purely for a hotel?? Seats I can almost understand. But, we do have a great pitch still, thanks to amazing grounds staff, so why no seats?

And I agree with Cheshire, a second tier on the Jarold would make that stand huge!

The hotel is ridiculous!<grr> They could have filled the corner in and built a hotel into the back of it. I believe Bolton have something like that at the Reebok, although their ground was planned for that.

I don't suppose it matters too much what the ground looks like as long as as many people as possible can get in, but me being a bit OCD when it comes to things like that, I'd much prefer it to all be level!

Maybe they could knock the Bl**dy hotel down and put seats in to replace it? Given the attendance stats at Carrow Rd, it seems like a banker to increase capacity....

Carrow Road would look amazing with that 2nd tier!

I think we need at least 2 seasons in the Prem (with a reasonably comfortable level of safety in the 2nd season) until we should start thinking about expansion though.
No doubts about attracting the crowds though!

Yea and I'm with the anti hotel lot, what the hell were they thinking?!

Just checked wikipedia, and apparently we're thinking about another tier on the Jarold! Hmmmm....

However, there is a quote from Bowkett saying the GW foundations will take another tier, but the 'sensible option' is a complete rebuild, taking 18-24 months. I think we'll need premier league stability before we consider that.

wikipedia as a reference........LOL

alright chaps!

thought i'd have a gander on 'not606' and see who's about?

regarding capacity: i think it will be a case of leaving it as it is and focusing solely on clearing some debt and survival in the top flight. capacity will have to wait for another day...

Not sure anyone is really thining it's going to happen this coming season but if it looks like Norwich will be safe from relegation come, lets say mid-April, I would not be surprised if work was to start come the end of the season to increase the capacity by several thousand.

problem they have is that they will need to rehouse 4-5000 fans when they add an extra tier to the city stand... difficult situation for the club

Not too different from when the Jarrold was built - just reduce the capacity. Has to be done for the long term future. I can recall those poor away supportes getting soaked sitting next to the touchline on just 2 rows of seats <laugh>

I would hope the PL would give us permission to reduce the away capacity during any re-build as well, otherwise accomodating 10% away fans would not be easy anywhere else inside the ground.

wikipedia as a reference........LOL

Wikipedia isn't the reference, its a quote from Bowkett, making him the source. The fact that wikipedia then references a BBC news article I thought was irrelevant and unnecessary clutter. Especially as that still doesn't make BBC a source, its still Bowkett. When I'm writing a scientific paper, then yes I use the original source, for a comment on a forum, I don't believe its necessary in the context.

The initial reference to wikipedia then goes on to critique the source, showing I'm not presenting it as fact, so why does anything I posted need a derogatory comment?

to be fair to the hotel, we did get a bit of money from 1) selling the land and 2)i think we get (or used to) a percentage of the profits, so as much as i agree it looks horrible, it may have helped us to be were we are now.

i wouldnt be surprised if we manage to fit in another 1000 seats or so somewhere, i used to be front row in the city stand but you would never know the seats that were put in, infront of us hadnt been there since the stand was originally built.

it would look amazing if they could do a corner infill infront of the hotel but dont think its possible and would be too close to the away fans.

They were on about adding more seats to other areas like they did with the River End. I agree with Canaries Soccer about adding another tier to the City stand, plus the road is situated so close to the stand itself I can't see them building another new Jarrold type stand, it wouldn't make sense especially since you have to climb a 6ft high wall to get onto Koblenz Avenue from Carrow Road. Rumour has it the Jarrold can have an extra tier too, but that would cost some serious change.

On a second note I could shoot the ****ing w*nker (probably Neil Doncaster) who decided to build that hotel in the corner of the ground.

I quite like the hotel, very relaxing

What you could do is knock down the stadium and expand the hotel
Sure to be a good investment for the future and the staffs wages are sure to be a bit less than your players
