Disagree. Doesn't matter who gets the goals as long as they go in. This whole 'striker should score more' is irrelevant if the team gets the goals. We at Liverpool aren't expecting Carroll to become a 25goal a season player, we expect him to chip in with 10-15 but create plenty of chances and make space/time for the other players.

I didn't even watch it. I wouldn't judge any player under Hodgson. Kenny even got better performances out of Poulsen and who'd have thought anybody was capable of that? Downing being a proper left winger is why I liked him. I got fed up of cut insiders but there must be some reason so many managers have uitilised it in the modern game. I don't think you can criticise Downing just for being on the right and cutting inside. Those are orders, not player preferences.
This is an interesting point. For a while now I've been thinking that, for some reason that escapes me, Downing must be being told to play the way he does. If he was being coached and told to take on his man at every opportunity, and he mysteriously declined to, surely he'd be dropped?
It Narrows the field of play which helps if the side gets caught on the counter attack, It also puts a stop to diagonal balls being played in from the midfield if caught and when attacking it allows the full back to overlap
