You seem to be arguing against yourself when you talk about Borini and then reminding us of Downing, Henderson, Carroll and Adam. There is no way that you can be sure that Borini will not suffer the same fate. As for the others then there is far more likelyhood that because of their experiences last season we will see far higher levels of performance from them. As of now we have no true idea of what style Rodgers will actually employ. The man hasn't even had the whole squad together. So all of this "Rodger's only sees Carroll as Plan B at best is again mere speculation.
My point is just because you have no experience in PL doesn't mean that it will take a while for them to settle in. The players I quoted showed us that you can be British, and have experience of the PL but still struggle to adapt. I agree with your other point - by saying that we cannot rely on Borini is just as speculative as assuming that Carroll is just a Plan B. We'll just have to wait and see.
You'd have been better quoting players who had settled rather than kicking yourself in the nuts, which is what you did. But then for the two or three you could name you'd have had responses of a whole load of players who hadn't settled. What are the odds of a 20-yr old Italian coming into the PL and shining? I can't think of a precedent. It should also be remembered that 20 years old is no age to expect anything from anybody but some fans will and will find him wanting anyway. I only hope he's not the only answer Rodgers has because for an attacking manager I'd have expected Swansea to have at least managed a positive GD last season. and it looks like he's going to take headed goals out of our attacking repertoire.
Hello All, back from Weekend of beer curry, shooting, some off road & beer to commiserate with an other poor soul Heading down the nuptial path. So, the Carroll saga has continued. Saw this posted on my timeline. http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/newcastle-united/nufc-news/2012/07/16/andy-carroll-wants-to-return-to-newcastle-united-72703-31401563/ Not exactly direct quotes but about as possible as every other version lol
Good riddance. He was never really committed to making it here. Him looking unfit for the first year he was here proves that. He let King Kenny down massively with his lack of commitment to being a 100% fit.
Sounds fun must have been really messy. You'd better have something to back that up or MFG is gonna tear you a new one! He scares me lately and I don't scare easy.
In that case; this has all been just a bit shabby as a club. We buy a young lad for ridiculous money while injured, the lads struggles for a year with the transition from big fish in wee pond to just another fish, gets the kick up the backside effort wise and his reward is being dumped by a manager who doesn't train one minute with him. I don't give a toss about the loss of money; it's a valuable, if harsh lesson in football for our owners and it's already cost the jobs of those who did the deed. It will give me pause with the new manager. To decide on a player without bothering to give him a pre season but give the same said chance to players older & more experienced who displayed poorer performance & attitude in the shirt is very brave. Not saying its a mistake because it obviously depends who's brought in & how his redesigned team performs but it's a brave showing of rigid belief in your own plan. I Obviously hope it works. For the individual, I know he's on £80k a week so sympathy is limited but if there's ever been a display of treating human beings like objects this is it. If he does go; I wish him well.
We should not let him go on LOAN! If he goes we need to replace him in the Squad, we are short on strikers as it is!!!
An 18 million pound drop is awful, but i suppose we got about 30M to much for Torres...So not so bad!
not sure i want rid yet, but if he does go, def agree has to be sell or nothing. can't be doing with being shafted by more loan arrangement deals! is no one convinced he will fit Brendans style then, or is it more the players attitude or what we have been told it is anyway?
People need to forget the £35m we paid for him, he was never worth that and never will be so whatever happens we stand to make a loss. Yes the big loss will hurt, especially if he goes back to Newcastle because it will be like we paid a massive loan fee! But, we need to judge the player on his ability and importance to the side. IMO, he is a £15m to £20m player at best.
I don't want Carroll to go and I am still not convinced he will go, but a loan deal would be insane. We lack forwards as it is so what good would a loan deal do? It doesn't give us money to buy reinforcements and it strengthens a rival. Crazy, absolutely crazy!
I have got the feeling BR just has no plans to try and make him fit in with his plans! He seems to want him gone, just wish we could have done it in a better way! Do hope we can bring in a few more players before the season starts. I think we are still two or three players short for a real push on top 4
Agree on the Carroll part Someone has to just put the record straight, fed up with the different stories flying round. Read 3 papers and BBC sport and all different that just shows that it is all B.....X journalism IMO Andy will be staying
Or they are enjoying being the big talk in the papers and fully know he ain't going. Payback to the papers for the Suarez saga
