I'm in awe, seriously lad I am. I mean 23 years and counting without winning the league title and still retaining world class players, quite something.
IIRC voting is done around the 15th March, so RVP and Suarez' recent lack of impact probably won't count against them. I reckon Bale, Mata and Carrick deserve it for their impact over the entire season, but of those three Bale is the only one likely to get it due to his profile. Surprised to see Welbeck and Wilshere on the young list - neither have been great this season imo. Benteke for YPOTY for me - when you see him play he looks more like a 27 year old than a 22 year old! Without him I reckon Villa would be down already.
They never, EVER stop whining like prissy bitches. One of their players is nominated for player of the year and what do they do? WHINE about who the other nominees are. If Suarez wins it they'll probably have a ****ing good whine about him not getting 100% of the votes. Sad acts. Anyway, 4th is nailed on, next year is their year, only need 3 top class players etc.
Think it comes down to the old chestnut of keepers and defenders getting recognised on the basis of their team performance rather than their own. Like Terry and Cech nominated in 2005 cos Chelsea had the tightest defence and Vidic, Rio and VDS all getting nominated in 2009 after we broke the record for not conceding. It's very rare that a defender gets nominated without playing in a great defence, and we definitely haven't had a great defence this season.
Welbeck has had a poor season, picking him in front of Rafael is laughable Carrick won't win it but probably deserves his place, comfortably the best English passer of a football and should have well over a hundred caps by now
I think everyone is baffled by Welbecks inclusion. I bet Welbeck is confused as to his nomination as well. Carrick has no chance of winning, but deserves every right to be in the list of nominees.
That comment about Carrick is arguably the most refreshing thing I've ever read on this forum. A comment made completely without bias or prejudice. Fair play. Unless you're taking the piss and I've been had big time!
Definitely agree with Zabaleta. I didn't rate him as much more than a journeyman a couple of years back, but he's come on leaps and bounds over the last year or two. Also seems to be one of your few players who hasn't struggled with the pressure of trying to retain the title.
The irony of the Liverpool fans' Carrick hate is that it sits alongside their Lucas and Allen love (hope?). Lucas is there to break up play and Allen is supposed to be the midfield passing fulcrum. Carrick does both better than either of them, hence being the mainstay of a midfield that is walking the league while Lucas and Allen play for a midtable team. Either dem redmen really don't know what da **** dey're watching or der bitterness is clouding der judgement.
its one thing to discuss why Suarez won't get it, not lost on us you lot creating threads a thread on why he should not get it and then you talk on here about what we talk about I think your bollox is worse tbh, talk about United yeah I do on our board, but talking about us talking about Suarez is just double Eric Besides, there were valid opinions on why he wouldn't get it, as for Suarez being off the boil, only in the last two games btw So the bollox talking is done here by you and the crepe. A thread about Carrick, and you pair of numpties are talking about Suarez Liverpool and Liverpool fans and it's no shock to you that there is many many times the talk of Liverpool on this board compared to talk of United on the Liverpool board Shortmemorymuch
