Yeah but that was just a squad number to him when he was young. Carra has made that number him own. Not a fan in general of this kind of thing but it's quite an obscure number and would be a nice touch.
None of our previous legends have had their numbers retired. As luv says it's not usual for our club. The ULTIMATE accolade for any Liverpool player is to be recognised as a Kop Legend. It's not donated, it's not warded by committee, the honour just emerges into the general conciousness. Jamie already has that and I bet that means more to him than retiring his squad number.
And its a target for young aspiring Liverpool players; the idea of filling out that shirt, living up to that number. Obviously it won't phase on some players at all but to some it will mean a lot to wear it one day.
