Just been asked by the lady who owns the Inn 'what time do you want breakfast?' me 'what time do we have to get out?' Clebrations going on !!
BTW, and i suppose it goes without saying (i dont know what it sounded like on CAFC Player), the support was immense - total noise all game - very, very impressive. 11 out of 10.
Super Words fail me. All the best to you and yours in a difficult time. The not 606 crew can look after theselves for a few days while you look after what is important - your family
Sorry to hear that Super, best wishes at a difficult time for you. Will post more later (have only just got back) but today was special. Chris Powell was in tears at the end of it. I LOVE THAT MAN.
Super sorry to hear ur loss. Time will heal, feel comfort in the small pleasure that cafc has presented. A smile in the darkest hours is the most precious.
Got home an hour or so ago. Words can't describe how proud I am of being a Charlton fan, that game will stick out in my mind for as long as I live, especially the players response to the fans...it was great seeing them all singing along to 'the reds are going up', they really seemed to care so much. Chris Powell is a legend! I'll post more tomorrow, for now its bed time and I'll be going to bed and waking up a very very happy Addick
What a day. The support was superb, I don't care if there were fewer than 1000 of us there, we sang from start to finish and made me so proud to be a Charlton supporter. The celebrations when the goal went in were of course mental. (Worth pointing out what a decent set of supporters Carlisle fans are - a few of them hung around after the game to congratulate us and give us their best wishes for next season. If they could come up with us through the play-offs that would be brilliant). As for the performance - same as we have been doing in recent weeks, not at our fluent best but comfortable for the most part, although Carlisle did hit the post. Zoko does indeed look a decent player, was always looking for the ball and moving into the gap between midfield and attack to cause problems for our defence. The only chance of ours in the first half that I can remember was when the ball fell to N'Guessan after a goalmouth scramble but in his haste he hoisted it over the bar. In the second half the game became very open, and Stephens put in a much better performance, linking the defence and attack well. As always, Kermorgant was excellent. Pritchard is worth a mention too, he made one or two cracking tackles while chasing back and generally put himself about a lot. BWP should have scored the one on one chance (that debate is for another time) but was in the right place to prod home the corner from a Stephens knock-down. After the goal Taylor came on to help steady the ship, but there were no real scares until the full time whistle. It took a while for news to filter through that Sheff Weds had indeed only drawn, but when the team came out of the tunnel about 10 minutes after FT the feeling was incredible. Thanks you, Chris Powell and the players, for restoring my pride in my club. Throughout the season (with only a tiny handful of exceptions) you have produced superb, professional performances, fighting together as a team. I could think of a case for just about every one of you to win Player of the Year - you are ALL heroes. I'm going to be buzzing for a long time to come I think
