Hi Paul, I trust you are well.

It will be very tough for them to pull this off, but I have far more confidence in Hoos than those before him. That said, they can't even get the year the club was established right.

No idea mate. This is probably in the hands of the politicians regardless of whatever either party might say. There is currently no plan B, so maybe cut out a couple of bottles or Merlot a week.

Then perhaps other options need to be investigated. Because Old Oak Common seems like a non-starter and a pipe dream.

What happened to the interest in the Daley Thompson stadium?

Totally agree with Tramore - with some clever architecture & engineering I think we could redevelop LR & make it 25k - 30k capacity, with much better corporate facilities for the much needed extra revenue & non football use. They could make it a smaller, more modern version of White Hart Lane/Goodison with double decker stands all round - great stadiums for atmosphere/ fans near the pitch etc unlike the identikit bowls at Derby/Boro/Reading/Southampton.

While I tend to think that you are right, the club aren't giving up after a load of posturing by Car Giant. This may only be because of a lack of viable alternatives, but if Car Giant was that secure in its position why would they take the effort to hunt down email addresses of as many attendees as they could of the consultancy meeting at QPR?

Linford Christie Stadium perhaps? I'm not sure how genuine that ever was. The housing is needed to pay for the stadium, Hoos made no bones about that. I assume that it is easier to borrow against housing than a stadium. Any space no big enough to support "sufficient" housing and a stadium will be of no interest.

You are correct of course, not sure where I got Daley Thompson from. So it is Old Oak Common or nothing? This a personal opinion, but I wouldn't be averse to us moving further out to secure a suitable site, somewhere like Uxbridge for example.

It is the only option currently on the table. Other sites of that size will be very hard to come by, but never say never.

I'd be very happy if we moved to somewhere south of Croydon just as you'd welcome a move to Norfolk. :emoticon-0102-bigsm

There is plenty of land in Norfolk, tends to get a bit wet every now and then though

Hi Roller. What I find rather bemusing is why they want to build a stadium and housing in such close proximity? Why not do what every other club has done in the last 30 years or so, find a suitable plot of land and plonk a new stadium on it. Especially when the apparent priority is spelt out in your post #59 on page 3 on this thread.
I don't recall any other club having this remit when building a new ground. If they desire to make money from housing they could do this with a separate arm of the QPR business model and build houses elsewhere.

I suggest they take the Candy Brothers route in this matter ... http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/...82/A-property-fairytale-from-6000-to-9bn.html

You're right of course Roller, it's the owners, not the club. It seems pretty clear that the attraction in buying the club for at least some of the owners (Mittal?) was Old Oak rather than little old QPR. Fernandes and Bhatia seem to have got the bug though, so I absolve them. We are in limbo now though - in desperate need of a new stadium, but with no hope of these owners delivering one in the next 10 years.

Lee Hoos said a historian was badgering the club about the date
    It wasn't you was it?
I said to them what can they do? As it effects previous celebrations etc and therefore the history of the club
I found Lee Hoos a really nice bloke
It's just me as I see so much potential for our club and they have been very slapdash about the branding exercise regardless of the choice of badge that when finished will look very neat
It's disheartening that a real marketing strategy doesn't look like it really exists ... For a club in our geographical position in London is tough to understand IMO

This is just my opinion mate, but I see the stadium as their way of leveraging the deal in their direction. The need for a new stadium is genuine, but is that the driving force behind this?

I'm no history Paul, that would have been Gordon Macey, the club's official historian. He produced a document for that meeting explaining why 1886 was the correct year we year founded, and also why we should still have an apostrophe in Queen's (which was far less sympathetically received).

I don't ever expect to know the timeline behind these events and whether Old Oak was a major driver in their takeover, I'd only ever be guessing. I fear that you are spot on with your assessment for the future, especially as, I'm reliably informed, that we've already borrowed ahead against our parachute payments for the next two seasons.
