Even though his contract is out, I hope the club continue to support his rehab if it is as bad as it looked. We do have form for this before.
I think there is definitely merit in RM's style overall, but yeah since the end of the unbeaten run he has really lost any kind of ability to positively influence a game, some of his sub decisions are absolutely baffling and almost always appear to make us worse.
I don’t think it’s necessarily the subs as usually it’s just like for like. It’s the other team stepping it up because we are usually only a goal ahead. Martin/the teams inability to manage games or have a plan B is why we always look **** for the last quarter of games. So many managers have out smarted him at the end of games
I still think there will be more twists and turns before this is done. Ipswich have two tough away games and Leeds have a tricky one on Monday... we will beat Leicester I beat ya
Personally I'd have started Fraser instead of Brooks, but either way, we would have dominated. Bringing Charles on wouldn't have changed anything. Maybe we'd have drawn instead of lost, whoopee-do. Rothwell I agree looks so vanilla at times, and yet his introduction as sub against Huddersfield and Sunderland won us both of those games. Sulemana's sh*t I agree. But the reason we f*cked up today, same as against Boro, and so many other games this season, is because our forwards players are really bad at shooting.
Gutted for Stu.. Hope it isn't the ACL it looked like. He was blowing out of his arse after 60 mins and Aribo gets taken off instead.. I know injuries can be just bad luck, but if I were Stu I'd be annoyed Russ didn't take me off. He is probably our most important player but the amount of game time he has racked up at his age this season, would 100% place him in the red zone. Also can't wait for Che to be out of the club. He thinks hes too good for us and two years of watching him squander sitters has been infuriating. Easily my least favourite player of the last 5 years. Cost us so many points in two consecutive seasons.
I would have too but brooks wasn’t bad today. I think you underestimate how important a proper CDM is, the same way Martin does. First half we didn’t really need it as Cardiff were awful. But if he was proactive and put some bite and Charles calm head in there sooner I’m convinced we would have won. I would have started Charles as well FWIW
What a ****ing terrible way to finish the season. I'm trying to think of what next year's starting XI looks like and I don't think it's going to be pretty. It will be like starting all over again. With the clown in charge I can see another season of aiming for the play offs. How bloody depressing, oh and the club have put the prices up. Mega
Haha, are you scapegoating me? Only joking. But you're wrong; I fully appreciate the importance of a DM. But, playing with Charles instead of Smallbone would not have changed the fact that Che missed two absolute sitters, Brooks missed practically an open goal, and Adarma skied several over. Our players looked tired at the end so I understand bringing on the wingers. But we shouldn't have been in that situation in the first place.
Don’t know if it’s been mentioned but the corner in the first half, along the ground to Brooks. WHY THE ACTUAL **** is no one anticipating the keeper saving the ball and backing up for a tap in?
First team will be fine. Still one of the top 6 in the league. Russ will go to that clueless shambles of a club, Brighton, and we can hire some long-ball merchant to appease the anti-football brigade our fans have turned into over the last nine months. Until we lose a few games and then it's back to the "f*ck sh*t c*nt bottle jobs" stuff.
Would like to see KWP play a normal FB role on Tuesday, with none of this inverted stuff. He spent so much time in the middle of the field today that Cardiff totally exposed us down our right, without hurting us. Give Leicester that amount of space and we could lose by a big score.
Spot on, I said at the start of the season that in this season of so many changes on and off of the pitch that I wanted to see progress on the pitch and more entertainment and that it would take time with a completely new style of football and that the most realistic result was the play-offs. Ultimately it was our September that has cost us the top 2 because we were always playing catch up but some of the football we have played has been very pleasing and has given the team an identity and I wouldn't want us to throw that work away and start again. Nobody knows the strength of the squad for next season or even what league we will be in but I don't believe it will be a ground zero scenario and we will still have a multitude of good young talent at the club. I certainly feel more optimistic for our future than 12 months ago.
I am disappointed by the result but I don’t want to go up anyway. The PL is designed for half a dozen teams to sell the PL to Asia. The other 14 teams are just cannon fodder. Any 14 teams will do. I know that teams like Crystal Palce and Bournemouth survive each season but I don’t want to watch another season of Saints being humiliated. Needing the money from the PL just to exist, is irrelevant. Lots of teams survive in the Championship.
Our team without KWP, Downes and THB will not be top 6 in the league. What's our results been like when they haven’t played? If not wanting to play 1000+ pass football and still lose is being in the "anti-football" brigade then count me in as a founding member. We've just lost to a second string Cardiff who had nothing to play for in a must win game! Had lots of possession though, that'll keep the fans on the edge of their seats
Today was a really depressing day. Not because we lost but because we just repeated the same **** we have done all season. Created lots of chances against a VERY poor team and somehow fluffed 8 very easy opportunities. Then second half we folded to a little bit of pressure. We have been failing like this for about 3 seasons jn a row.
