    Now, now Sussex.

Sounds as if we are getting the better of it Siam. 5 mins to go.

Kiss was doubtful coming into the game. Shows our lack of cover across the middle.

Good win for us. Another result ground out.

    I'm starting to believe.

I hope MM has some business lined up for January as we need some cover.

Rudy should be fit next week. Hope Gerrard and Kiss aren't too bad. Ralls sounds like he's maturing into a good prospect though.

    Cheers lads.

Just got back, Brum were very disappointing, played like Forest mark2.
I thought Naylor played relay well only one or two flashes from Burke.
If we won 3-0 don’t think Brum could complain they were very ordinary.
All 3 substitutes done well, Hudson like a rock, Ralls one or two good passes and Mason his usual self.

Deserved the win. Another very good display against a team who came for the draw and looked a solid oufit.

    Whittingham ran the show.

Well done to Lee Naylor - looks a different player under Mackay.

The signing of Ben Turner looks an outstanding piece of business.

    New contract for Malky asap!!!!!!

Hard earned result from the boys.Superb game from Whitts, what would we do without him?Kev looked tired from the start and we are starting to pick up inevitable injuries.Brum must be one of the dirtiest teams down CCS this season.Shame the clueless officials stalled the flow of the game. The lad sent off should have gone long before he did.

Hilts, does having 5 in midfield and people like Conway and Cowie in the wing positions give more cover to the back 4 and the full backs in particular? Sounded as if Conway and Cowie did a lot of chasing back to help out. Whatever the reason, we seem a lot tighter at the back this year. Another clean sheet!

I think its a combination of the 5 man midfield , the team working hard and not giving the opposition time on the ball plus we clearly are much fitter than last season.

Naylor last season struggled as he was exposed under Dave Jones keep shape 442.

I was worried when I heard Naylor was playing. However he slotted into the side easily.

We are getting better. The 5 man midfield is working well but Malky isnt afraid to change things.

Thanks Hilts, appreciate the views. We do seem to have found a style that suits us.

You are right, MM isn't afraid to use his bench and to change the shape. I know 2 changes were forced on us, but over the past few games players have often been given 20 minutes rather than the 5 minutes under DJ.

One of the things I like about MM from listenng to interviews by him and a number of players is the way he looks at individuals as well as the team. He obviously has a structure he wants to work within, but the fact he is working on Whitts defensive play and Kev's attacking play suggests he has an eye for detail and doesn't leave any stone unturned for that extra 0.5 % in the team.

If he's working his magic on Naylor then that saves transfer fee. I admit to being a little concerned when I found he'd be facing off to Burke. His early booking made my concerns even greater. Whether it was Burke being off his game or defensively we kept him quiet, from what I heard on the radio, he didn't give us many broblems.
