Do you really think MM wasn't grateful for what Watford have done for him? How about the service he gave Watford? Quoted from Malky: “Watford will always be a club close to my heart as I had a lot of memories there. My daughter was born in the hospital 50 yards away and we still live in the area. “The fans were fantastic and backed my team and they saw a lot of youngsters coming through at the time". “It is the club that gave me the chance to be a manager and I was proud to be manager of Watford. It is a club that will always be close to my heart" Taking backroom staff and signing a player or two that you know very well is usual for managers. It really seems that Watford fans are being a little sensitive about this. As stated earlier, we were all grateful for DJs service and most of us wish him the best in his future career. MM was always going to leave at some point, and he will leave us at some point. That is football.
Ah well, Watford fans ignoring the views of someone sat very close to the incident and chosing to rely on a still photo. He was late, it was at speed and yes he got a foot on the ball having gone around Conway with one leg and through him with the trailing leg, hence the injury. I agree that a player getting injured does not automatically mean a red but look at this in context of the reds handed out in other games when players suffered no injury - Kompany of Man City for instance. Not the same type of foul but a red given even with no contact. I am certainly not saying Hogg did this with any malice, just determination to win the ball. Deadhead booked him so he obviously saw something he didn't like and Hogg spent most of the time it took to get Conway back on his feet and eventually off the pitch apologising to Conway. But, as I said, it's done and dusted, just accept a considered opinion from someone much closer to the action than you guys.
I'm not going to compare this challenge to Kompany's red, because that red card was a disgrace and ruined the game. I'll take your opinion, and I agree it wasn't a great tackle...but think I've seen enough to decide that a yellow was fair. Bit different to ignoring your view, it's just that we're of the opposing team, and I'm not a sheep (no pun intended)
bfb, he puts up a similar report for most games win, lose or draw... only in this case if you look at the comments, he certainly stirred up "hornets nest". humour is lost on some people
I appreciate that you are trying to give a neutral-under-the-circumstances opinion, but in this situation I'm not sure what the still doesn't tell that would change the incident. By definition a tackle can't be late if you get the ball. I don't deny for a second that it was fast, but heaven forbid we ever introduce speed limits in football. I haven't seen anyone from either side dispute that he had one leg going across the floor and one leg tucked underneath his body. And it seems very clear-cut that the first point of contact was with Hogg's groin. I appreciate the point you're making about red cards for intent (and I agree that red cards should be shown for intent), but unless you're disputing the previous few sentences I don't see what he did that would fall into that category. Furthermore, having now seen the video, Hogg made the tackle having seen Conway deciding to turn and then cut inside, so it's not at all clear whether he intended to tackle from behind. As for Deadman showing him a yellow: well, that makes him one of an exclusive club of 200 this season.
H bomb, that probably has more to do with the fact that it was posted on pretty much every watford forum bar the not606 one. I.e. the ones with relatively high proportions of kids. Personally I love that sort of stuff even when it is complete frontier jibberish. I'm a big fan of Yahtzee for example, despite the fact that the games he butchers less brutally than most tend to be the bad ones.
