Vestergaard literally looks like he’s won a competition to play for Saints. Hope it’s just rust where he hasn’t played much..
Even without singling individuals out, we look oh so poor in those area's. So typical that Ings has seemingly picked up that injury we all feared when he signed. Without him, our attack is no better than Burnley, and a notch down from Newcastle. How has that happened?
Given how little we've seen of Ely this season (and how little he has contributed when we have seen him), we've effectively lost Tadic and Boufal over the summer without replacement. And we were hardly an attacking force last year. (Yes Armstrong has come in, but given that he performs much better centrally than out wide, I see him more of a Davis upgrade then a Tadic/Boufal replacement).
Think Sam was worth a try, well (way) before the unfortunate injury. Austin was a cheapish gamble. Long was an outlet. Gabbi a enigma. We are in the hole now.
Coming back from a hammy is tough, but into a new ultra fitness routine is frankly dangerous. I wouldn't put too many eggs in that basket.
Actually, getting to 30 points would be a substantial upturn in form for us. That would be 21 points in 22, which is significantly better than we've managed this season, and in line with what we managed for the whole of last season. It also wouldn't be enough.
I thought they looked knackered from about 30 mins yesterday. I know the weather was vile and I'm sure the pitch was heavy but they looked like it was the 29th minute of extra time even before the first half was over. Vin
