https://www.skysports.com/football/...-hasenhuttls-first-southampton-match-analysed Analysis of Saints game from Sky page. Not unexpectedly...lots in the middle, toothless up front and glaring error at back. Ralph says team had heads down in the dressing room and he told them they had to work hard.
Hilarious that people are losing their **** yesterday yet we'd have been on our way to a top 8 finish had we won
That's what concerns me.....some people are really expecting too much in such a short time........Nothing is going to happen over night. I'm so surprised at the line up yesterday.........I got the impression it was probably the weakest team we could have put out. Certainly defensively anyway. I am guessing he wanted to give most that played Wednesday a rest. Certainly putting two central defenders in that haven't played in the side for a bit was strange. (for me that is) Was he restricted in his choice for some reason??
Would have been great (but unlikely) to be a revelation yesterday. Poch produced a change in style almost instantly, but he had a talented, young and hungry squad. Ralph has a limited time to gauge who is suitable for his style (and even the EPL) and then has a limited ability to do anything about it....doesn't help having the best striker out injured. A win yesterday wouldn't have meant he had got the golden ticket....just as a loss doesn't mean he has failed....however, we needed those points desperately, so I reserve the right to be depressed without believing the loss is an indicator of anything much as far as Ralph is concerned.
His selection was perhaps influenced by a desire to see more of the defence play in a Saints shirt. If Ralph wondered why a recent £18m signing with a decent reputation in the Bundesliga hadn't been playing much, he unfortunately got his answer.
Ralph probably knows a lot more about Yannick Vestergaard than many of us may think, with that player making 66 appearances for Borussia M over the two year period that Ralph was manager of R.B Leipzig..
Why do I see a different Redmond from so many of you? Every time he had the ball we looked like we might actually create something. However, there was one moment that summed up the whole game for him. He belted down the left, brilliantly running right through a couple of their defenders, got to the byline in the area and had to cross it to a lone Charlie who was in the middle of (I think) five defenders. Predictably, one of them banged it out for a corner. If that's "no end product" I'm a Dutch Uncle. I think many of you are looking at him through the lenses of previous seasons. Take them off. He's my major positive in the team at the moment. Vin
I with you Vin, other teams always gang up on him because they know he is a threat. And I am sure Ralph will get him playing even better.
I actually agree with you. I think the target needed will be lower but at this stage will still go with it. So you are on.
He must be the best most creative positive end product winger in the league this season with his 0 goals and 0 assists.
But you also suggest there is an upturn in points for other teams in the second half of the season but not suggesting that applies to us...
I agree to a point.......I have been saying for a long while........We do have people getting past defences but usually only one to cross to in the box. The exception to that was the first half United game. The second half we were back to square one!!
I was initially surprised, but then he’s seen the team play Wednesday and then played a few he hadn’t seen. Good chance to have a look.
Just sick and tired of watching him look as though he is about to skin a defender, and instead just running into said defender, and losing the ball.
